Doing a cartman.....Crossbox! A possibly a red door

Post by Kitch »

Well after suggesting Carter bought a new unit, I thought I'd just check before plumping out £28 on a new crossbox for this pink valver to make sure no one else has one laying around!?

And also (thought I may have already sorted one) an O/S/R mk2 door in red if possible. The pink valver has a fubar'd version currently which is letting it down in a big way!

I do know where one is...trouble is, it's 40ish miles from me, and a good deal further for you!
But, I may (unlikely though) be travelling this weekend, in which case assuming the scrapyard still has it, I can grab it for you. Unless there is an easier solution?

Is this the crossbox or the door bud? :P

Doh! Sorry, it's the door. It's on a mintish estate in a scrapyard in Ruabon. Unfortunately (for me) the N/S doors have a scratch down them, as mine have been resprayed at some point and have faded to a slightly different shade than the rest of the car. But the O/S ones looked fine. I'll know later tonight about getting one, depends on whether I go over to Yorkshire this weekend...

Sounds good mate, if you do buy it I'll reimburse you as it could be a spare for my other valver.

Right, I won't be able to go this weekend. But, it is likely that I'll be able to in the next couple of weeks - so if you do find one sooner by all means go for it, otherwise I'll grab it for you.
It's in a fairly inaccessable part of the yard for crushing, at least 2 rows in front of it so I should think it'll be there for a while (been there at least since December!)

Hmm, that sounds quite helpful Tim, although it'd probably cost nearly £25 to get there to collect it!

Definately bear it in mind, cheers

Door now sorted, I've noticed a small scratch in the middle of the door that hasn't broken the primer (can't see it on the picture, what you can see is bird crap!) But apart from that it is damn near perfect.

Had to hacksaw the door check strap to get it off though - it put up a fair old struggle!

Cannot locate "whoop whoop" smiley.

Found a crossbox for £30 new, too. Just need to rethink the MOT situation next week.

Good find... And you don't need to bother faffing around with the rubbing strip either!

I can tell you after today's festivities, it's rather fun trying to get them straight again

Well... okay

I'd rather paint one that's already on the door, than remove and re-fit another one...

And I've got 5 of them to straighten out, spray and stick on... what fun!

Well that's also a different moulding IIRC, and probably textured.

I'll get the old one off, leave it in the airing cupboard overnight between two heavy books and fit it with proper trim tape to the new door.

It'll be reet
