Just came across a couple of snaps of the cars I had when I lived on the Losely Estate near Guildford. (Stu- do you know Littleton, betwixt Compton and Guildford?)...
Thought I had lost them...

The Yaris I bought new for £11,445 and sold it 16 months later for £8,275.

And that's why I don't think I'll ever buy another 'new' car...

Nice enough car, but really under-powered and the interior was a bit basic.

The Mercedes 300SE was a beaut. (Wife's car, hence her no. plate!) and the 190E 2.0 was good too - not a bad drive. I thrashed it to death going to a fro in France...

Anyway, not sure why I've posted them here, but I like to share. :D

GTi exhibiting the need for some work: the struts are creaking alot now and the ride's not tops. Not a big issue I have all the parts I need here, (BNIB C struts included!)... but as I discovered today the ravages of rust are never too far away: the rearmost exhaust hanger has nearly come away. It's all crunchy around there: although the boot floor's intact. So, a repair next week hopefully!

Well, once the welding is completed (I'm hoping next week) it's time to do the rear arm bearings, spheres, front struts, some pipes, overhaul the height correctors, replace the accumulator sphere... and the front brake pads and discs need doing too.

So by the time the National comes this GTi will be heavily renewed! Roll on the good weather!

There's some peeling lacquer and crappy paint on on part of my Fiat Ulysse's bonnet. I looked into getting the paitwork refurbished, but frankly it isn't worth it. My eldest daughter thinks the car look boring - although we all like it as a 'family car'/bus... so we have a plan to have some fun with it.

We like the way it drives (for a bus). 125 bhp, Pirelli P6000 rubber, 0-100kph in 13 secs, with a top speed an eye-watering 110 mph  :D

I have a roll of 'white stripe vinyl, some FIAT stickers, a couple of Giannini di Roma logo stickers (look nice), some dark graphite trims and FIAT seat belt pads even! So, at the risk of inviting scorn and ridicule (it's just a bit of fun!):

This is a visual... haven't done it yet... At least the damaged paintwork is covered by the stripes!

In rummaging through some photos last night, I came across these pics.

Cars I have owned...

My first BX, a 1987 GTi...

Image

The car that replaced it: (if you don't count the indulgence of my 1982 BMW 323i) :)
An 11,000 mile 200 TE. Which I wrote off in 2000. oooops.

Image

My Uno Turbo i.e.

Image

I got married in this 1987 MR2, which a year later traded in for the Corolla GTi-16. Ah, those days of 80's yuppiedom.

Image

Image

In 1985 I was bombing (if that's the word!) around in this Consul:

Image

Liz thought she'd join in with this Anglia: It turned out to be a complete nail. Sold it to an up-and-coming pop singer...

Image

Oh, and another Merc, a 190E 2.0 auto we had briefly in 2001:

Fab pic, and fair play for posting it...

It was all part of something we did for the Spitting Image Book, circa 1985.

I went shopping in Harrods looking like that.
Tonto and I got thrown out in the end.
We then went on to Stringfellows. Less said about that the better.
