Gazoline (French car mag) do a leader feature every issue with wedding cars "of a certain age", and of almost infinite variety.i love the wedding part
A petrol it may be, but an estate's always handy. Apart from the autochoke, a relatively simple BX to keep up and together (if OK in the first place). No octopus, easy access to most bits.

Thing is, you get stung for the larger engine bracket. If I'm going to get stung for that, I'll have a 19, which is about the same economy, but more powerful. Or, get a 14, which is all-but as fast, is much more economic and has the cheaper tax.
... or get a TD. More driveable than the 16 petrol with much better economy.
It's a bit of a shame, as there's nothing wrong with the 16 engine, it's just unfortunate that it's the smallest engine to qualify for the higher tax bracket.

-agreed! the 16 is perfectly adequate - Ideal for LPG shame about the tax though (I was quite surprised about that when I saw it was the same tax as my 2.4 CX)ct: Reply with quote
I think the 16 petrol BX is a great car, change it to a manual choke and youve got something thats reliable, frugal and quite nippy.

Dohh.... second clanger of the day.
Brain somewhat in neutral as up very early to fish-bother today - was thinking of the small octopus (No PAS on 16RS unless fitted as an option). Was probably wishful thinking on my part remembering days of not having to unpack the turbo induction system etc. or feel around aircon pipes as I'm used to doing for many things now. I never touched an octopus - or had problems with one - until I ran PAS-equipped diesels. Ignorance was bliss, and a lot less messy.
The point I was dismally failing to make is that a basic petrol BX is an easier car to learn basic BX DIY on.
