14 all the way. More economical than a 16, not as much difference in performance as book figures would have you believe.
Cheaper to tax, cheaper to insure. PAS really ain't an issue....it's still quite light.
They're also much easier to work on than 16's. Nothing is difficult to change on a 14, including the clutch!

Having owned both, the 14 is much ore eager to push along if you want. The 16 feels quite lazy by comparison.

Only advice is aim for a 14RE or 14TGE, and late 87 onwards only (early 14's had awful engines as far as using them goes!) These specs aren't lavish, but you get better trim, leccy windows and central locking, and in the case of the TGE, a leccy sunroof too!

I'd convince Matt to sell you his!

well on my 14 i change the single choke carb for a twin choke of an ax gt this made a huge difference peed many a chav off in there corsa lol

Phil your like me you like the extras, and your autoboxes! :D I still think the poor 16 is very much overlooked and underarated Having driven both cars I would prefer the 1.6 but do see the cost benefits of the 1.4.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

i have a 1990 14 tge, triton green with huricane trim.

having seen the posts, thought id mention it, have a sudden hankering for experincing a bx td/na diesel :oops:

i may think about it at some point. its a good runner, t+t october not mint but a good useable motor. plenty of life in it yet. would need to source something else... hmmmmm :wink:

TBH just as long as it is mechanically sound im am perfectly happy!! A bit of rough paintwork or shabby interior doesn't bother me! I just dont want LHM all over my drive :P

it has a slightly faded roof, no leaks on my drive! would need to sell it for enough to replace it with another bx as mentioned.

its gotta be worth £500 or thereabouts surely

how desperate are you? id like as much as its worth, as i need to replace it with sumt else (a bx) with chevrons on it! :lol:

whatever i can get for it will go straight on my next bx, do you know of a good diesel for sale?

not good....there is one on ebay but with MEGA miles on it haha and im not desperate desperate. they are just really hard to fund with under 100k on them lol
