Welcome Chris have you seen/spotted this threadrangebyte wrote:Hi all!
What i'm looking for is a tidy 14 with a decent history for under £1k. I'm not fussed about spec levels, even the most basic would make me happy
Any help is much appreciated!

Being much older the insurance/running costs is not an issue for me ! But as the "Saying goes we all have to start some where"

This is really unhelpful but there's four BX14s for sale on German Ebay at the moment including a Mk.1 Leader with a buy it now of €400 and another that has been sprayed a rather stealth looking matt black!
But I don't suppose you fancy a holiday to Germany nor a left hooker as your first car do you? ( How old are you by the way, I understood from your original question that you were 10 but 10 year olds can't drive anything except tractors legally - maybe not tractors either in Uk!)
Hope you find something suitable.

The GTi is shown as Group 14. BUT interestingly these groups never seem to appear on the Insurance paperwork that you get so maybe there is some discretion of interpretation between insurance assessments for the car. After all I seem to get a good rate on my insurance.Roverman wrote:http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/sum ... 131&page=4
