Dodgy Dash!

Post by tim leech »

Well my ebay Xantia haynes manual has arrived today at last, and in some ways I wish it hadnt! Some of the dash lights dont work so i thought I would as I do with my bx's pop the dash out and replace all the bulbs.

BUT! Before that you have to remove the centre console, airbag steering wheel which wil no doubt mean the light will stick on! steering wheel shroud and possibly have to drop the column! BUGGER! Then its just 2 screws!

Dont think anyone would bother to clock one cavmad as its far too much bleeding hassle!

Watch out for the airbag mate, those buggers can kill.

My bros Xantia went in for an exhaust repair and he asked the guy to do some bulbs and was advised to wait until he couldn't see any of the dash befor epaying for it to be opened up!

Cheers

Good luck Tim, personally speaking I`d wait until the very last one has popped it`s clogs before I bothered. I used to drive my old BX hatch around with a covertly placed torch before I finally got round to replacing them.
I`m pretty sure someone will have a special tool to remove steering wheel complete with airbag in one go, maybe a local Citroen specialist?
Worth doing Tim as the car obviously means so much to you and who knows you may even enjoy doing it as it`ll give you more pleasure to know you did it yourself!
Even I attempt some jobs on my BX`s and stuff like Cavaliers etc I positively love playing around with. You may suprise yourself and if you did get stuck just stop and ask someone for advice.
