Even though the engine's not been run for 7 years. The car has got to be worth it's money! IMHO

Get it bought :D

I'm trying my damndest, but she's gone off to bed in a right huff tonight:(
Not looking promising right now! (for me or the GT! )

I know Justin (Jayboy) is also interested, but if anyone else GENUINELY thinks they can bring this rare car back to it's former glory......I have contact details for the seller (who is a really nice guy, and is in no real rush to get rid!).
I'm pretty sure that there will be plenty of time for someone (if not myself!) to arrange the logistics of shifting her!

In that case you're fully justified in buying a new car to cheer yourself up! Surely it's what any man would do?

faded rear quarter plastic panels!
they actually appear to have been sanded down because the dark tint appears gone from the center (supposed) clear part. Before I painted one of mine, I sanded it uniformally smooth and used finer grades of wet and dry paper on it and a lot of time, I managed to get the plastic crazing off but it took the tint off too (ergo the tint must be applied to a clear plastic panel) and I never did manage to get it clear - just opaque so me gave up and painted it matt black.

Anywy - get it saved someone!!

Does look nice! :D And the clean/polish looks recent rather than 7 years ago.
The photo's don't show the cat damage on roof and bonnet that Roverman refers to, which presumably only goes to show how photos can mislead. :(

At a guess, I would say that the washing had been done at the time the car was first advertised in the Old Classic Car! (Around the mid/end of April). It certainly has the usual BX spiders webs around the mirrors!

The cat damage is pretty minor, in all honesty. A good machine polishing would probably shift 80-90% of it. Mostly very fine, shallow scratching covering most of the bonnet. No big deal to remove and respray the bonnet, if it still didn't look right after a good polish!

My overall impression is that the car is honest, and has NOT had any attempt made to hide anything, as we see in most eBay ads.
The seller has made very little attemplt to shift the car, ad-wise......and I got the impression that he was still reluctant to part with her, although he knows that it is probably beyond him (physically) now, to return her to the road!

Deffo worth £200-£300, for a rare model such as a C-reg GT!!Much better than some Mk 1's still around!

That would then fit the ignition SEEMPLES!!
*Or* you could order a new key from a Citroen dealer with the VIN number, they will prob'ly want sight of the V5 tho.

Youve got no chance of doing that unfortunatly, I tried for a 1994 Xantia 2 years ago and the dont keep records back that far they said, anything over 10 years old gets deleted.

That's a shame if it's the case, however I'd make sure that it's not just a case of 'it's old and I can't be arsed to look it up' syndrome. The amount of times I've been lied to by parts guys is fairly sizable...

In all fairness Tim......I don't think that John is planning on scrapping the GT as any matter of urgency. Like he said to me, when I asked about any necessary "future visits". His reply was "It's been here 11 years, so a while longer won't make any difference"

Unfortunately, SWMBO has this morning said that there is no way we can sanction another car, even one as rare as this GT! To be fair, we are not exactly blessed with spare money right now (who is?), and we would need to keep the car in the open, on our driveway, in full view of the local pondlife (who already have done enough damage to Monica!).

It would seem that the future of the GT lies with someone else.

I will be glad to assist any other potential buyer in whatever way I can.

This car MUST be given a new chance of life, and would also be a pretty safe financial investment, as I'm sure it would be worth WAY more than its initial cost plus the relatively minor (IMHO) costs to return her to the road.

I am now feeling quite sad and depressed. Sorry guys!
