Looks ok, either those fogs were an option, or they've been stuck in as an afterthought.

It's done a few miles but if it's been serviced then it should be ok providing the water leak isn't too serious?

Paul, are you going to see any of these cars or are you just pointing them out?

It might just be a coolant leak from the heater, the pipes, or maybe the heater matrix pipes - had this with my 306, fixed reletively easily.

It might, but I'd agree that it sounds suspiciously like a head gasket. After all, if it were a physical leak, it would leave tell-tale dribbles, which the seller would no doubt have pointed out, IE "losing water, but an easy fix.." etc.

If that's the case, then it's already over-priced at £100, which is a shame as it looks like it's in fine condition otherwise. It's not even pink!
this might be a signature

If the leak is coming from the heater matrix pipes then there might not be anything dripping from the car at all. In the case of my Peugeot the coolant only leaked when the engine was running - one of the pipes around the back of the intercooler had perished slightly around the julbilee clip - coolant would leak out, and turn into steam. Before I knew what the problem was I thought it was head gasket, but there was no mixing of coolant and oil. It was quite alarming to see steam coming out from under the bonnet!

Even if this is unlikely it's still worth checking as it's quite simple to put right - as you say David the car looks seemingly sound otherwise, so it would be a shame if people didn't buy this car thinking it's head gasket, and it turned out to be an easy fix!

Paul,
That really does sound like a sensible solution! :D
Keep the Clio (which you already know, and hopefully isn't going to cost you much to keep running for a few months more), until AFTER you have your 1 yrs "No Claims" bonus.
By then you should have saved up a bit more cash too.....so when/if you find a nice BX, it will cost you less to insure, and you will have a better choice of BXs to choose from!

BX 4x4s are really as rare as rocking-horse poo, on the roads! I bet there are more of them sitting laid-up somewhere, in need of some serious repairs (generally VERY expensive too) than there are actually being used! You would be better suited by a nice BX 17 Turbo-diesel, such as a TZD. There are plenty of them around, they generally run very well, are pretty fast but still can give you 50+ mpg if you drive a little less heavy on the right boot!

How's that? Cars come and go, by the time it's October there could be a few more but there could be only 1 or 2, unless you mean there will be more that Paul can afford :?

Yep I completely agree, or even better, a TXD turbo which will be as fast and machanically reliable, but has less to go wrong electric wise. Some features on my TZD are already starting to stop working and although it's quite easy to keep on top of it, you won't have to at all with a TXD ... and they have more chrome 8)

Here's a thought ... there's no good reason why my TXD turbo shouldn't be ready by October, if you don't have a BX by then you could buy mine - it won't be too expensive.

Yes, James! By October he will have got more cash saved up, so giving him a better choice!

My BX is also a TXD Turbo (Monica)!! Becoming rarer by the year, and definitely "classier" than all these common TZDs floating around! (slight touch of sarcasm here!)

Erm, the only electric add ons the TZD has over the TXD is rear windows and front fogs.
Not that much more to get excited about....
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
