I'm going to try to add a photo or four here:

I'm thinking of buying this one - but it's expensive! I like the interior, but I'm not sure about the black sills and rear valence(?)

I thought they all had black coloured sills? When you say expensive, may i enquire as to how much, it does look rather good even though its sitting on the wrong alloy's.

If its in good nick, then i'd say thats a fair price, how many decent mk1's come up these days that you can just jump in & drive away without having to do a fair bit of work. Dont forget to haggle hard

Blimey - you're on the ball Aerodynamica, yes it is the place the place that does XM's!

Re "not top of the range", what sort of features might a higher Spec. model offer?

Re the sills and valence I mistakenly thought they were supposed to be the same colour as the rest of the coachwork, but I'm remembering now how the black wears off the sills on white ones.

The guy I've spoken to states that it's had a complete engine and gearbox rebuild and "new" hydraulics (I seem to remember the pipes rot on the older ones ?)

Loving the interior - looks like a scifi set

Find out exactly what they mean by new hydraulics - it could just mean the strut returns, or spheres! (A bit like adverts where they state "New brakes" but mean they've just put a set of pads on the front...)

Come to think of it I haven't even asked what the mileage is. Duh! But then again, if it has had a partial restoration, mileage is not so important, is it? Assuming all the important bits have been done.

I'm thinking spheres and all pipes should have been replaced, along with radius bearings...

I need a full breakdown of work carried out on the engine and gearbox.

Ehh, there must be other stuff... any suggestions, please?

Don't forget: in no particular order
(for negotiation too)

Condition of LHM.

Tyres (incl. spare). Expensive to replace if you want decent ones.

Dashboard lights.

Rear hatch struts.

Condition of brake discs - especially rear.

Rust - front subframe...

(And of course, so on....)
