K&N Panel Filter

Post by Kitch »

Got one brand new unused to fit the 16v's, GTi's, diesels and TD's etc. I bought it and never fitted it, sticking to the cones

Washable filter to fit OE airbox.

Does it do any good? I mean, does it benefit performance (so I'd notice) and economy? I'll need to change air filter on one of my GTis shortly... So might well be interested.

In honesty I couldn't tell you....I've never fitted it!

A mate has one fitted to his Activa with increased boost and he swears by it. I fitted a similar one to my AX GT, it seemed to breathe a bit better. All the tuning experts say the panel filter is for winners when it comes to tuning, as you increase flow but still keep hot air from going up the intake.

Personally my 16v responded better to the cone filter, but it does make it alot louder which isn't for all tastes. I thought I'd keep it, but I'll never get bored out the 16v howl!

I run a scorpion foam panel in the TD and I dont know whether it gives any more go but it does have a nice induction growl.

I did try a heavily ventilated standard airbox once, we cut loads of big holes all over it, the car did seem to go a little better but the diesel growl made it sound like an old commer bread van :)

I use a K & N panel filter in my standard airbox on the Xantia - Cant says I have noticed much difference, my reasoning was, £30 for something that I would otherwise replace every 5 or 6K miles anyway when I do an oil & filter drop was ££££ well spent.

Ok, to save me having to pick someone I'll kick it off at £25 and the highest bidder can have it, plus a quid or something for postage.
