Could this be possible?

Post by Chris Abbott »

My wife says shes seen a TXD Turbo Meteor Automatic today in Stafford, reg number J???VEH
It was grey metallic, an elderly gent was driving it. She spoke to the man later, who said he bought the car from the original owner 8 years ago when it had done 28k---its now done 61k. My main question is did citroen make the above model, cant say ive ever seen one, a TZD yes TXD Meteor no. Any one got any clues? Thanks. :?

"TXD Turbo Meteor Automatic " ? No such combination (Original Factory Spec.) !

Diesel Versions available (for BX MK2, Saloon/hatchbacks) were:-

1) TGD/TZD/TXD TURBO & TZD Hurricane (1.7 TD engine) :- with Manual gearbox only.
2) 17 TGD (1.7 N/A Diesel engine) :- with manual gearbox only.
3) 19 TGD/TZD (1.9 N/A Diesel) :- can have manual or Auto boxes.
4) Meteor ( 1.9 N/A Diesel) :- can have manual or Auto boxes.

Note ! All Diesel estates only came in a manual gearbox choice.

I'd check with SWMBO again on what she exactly saw (Maybe someone added some extra 'TXD Turbo' badges to the car if it was definitely a Meteor Auto) :?:
I hope this helps , All the best !

Either a TXD 17 Turbo, with added Meteor stripes etc, or a Meteor with added TXD Turbo badges (which I need for my Monica!)

My guess would be for the Meteor originally, with Autobox, although I suppose it could have had a 17TD engine added later (from a TXD)?

most people think the T in TXD stands for turbo!, either way it will be a 1905cc diesel auto, slow but sure.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

This claim usually stirs up some debate from the believers and unbelievers.

Normally it's won by those that say, referring to past information, that Citroen never produced such a model. There are of course those like Vanny who made their own by transplanting engines. :D

And there's definitley only one turbo diesel automatic, and thats a 1769cc.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
