Exactly Ken !
The worst of the two ! It would be good if some manufacturer did an after market 'Stretchy Rubber' type replacement.
Similar to the ones used on outer CV joints which cannot be popped off !
Unless someone knows better that they are manufactured and available :?:

do you mean it is a hard job, or is the part hard to find ?

It's one very nasty job

Someone told me to buy a Xantia one, so I did   genuine Citroen part arrived but was of a really nasty hard plastic, just like the original ones fitted to the BX

I'm also told you can buy an aftermarket one which is nice and stretchy, just didn't find one myself :(

ERm, well, you have a choice of a late Xantia, or a pug gaitor.
Both of which are rubber, and take less than 20 minutes to fit if it goes well.

Just lube the inside of it well, and slip it on.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Well this one I have here must be an early xantia then  if anyone would like it free of charge they are welcome to it.

Personally you'd be better off smashing your thumb with a large hammer or a poke in the eye with a hot welding rod
