Strangely underwhelming IMO. I don't know, but the price seems too high to me regardless of mileage. No rear parcel shelf, hideous trims, a bit of damage (which I would think might be worse under the skin than it seems - especially if water's got into a split seam)...

But maybe I'm being OTT. After all a half decent BX on eBay is an increasingly rare beast these days!

Decent bx's on e-bay  I didnt think there were hardly any, especially these days. The bx is firmly on the endangered list, you just dont see them & certainly not in really nice condition & that includes club members cars (mine i include in that assesment).

There is the "make an offer" button, i think £350 would probably bag that car, still got some tax & a decent mot, cheap car if you ask me. You're just too fussy Phil

These cars are getting old now, even the newest is 15 years old Phil, & the way people treat their cars is awful. I've seen cars which are less than a year old with more battle scars than my 19 year old Gti, so any bx which is in half decent condition is probably best described as mint  None of mine came dent free, luckily nothing terrible, but still mildly annoying, & i'm sure a few extra one's have appeared on the txd which i didnt cause :x

Hey Guys,
What is it with cheap/Halfords hubcaps/wheel trims they make a car look so cheap and tarted up,why do people do it???
Can i ask what are the 1.4 engines like?,are they reliable? and are they seriously gutless in a BX?
cheers

My understanding is that they aren't exactly powerful, but certainly OK and a little nippy even!

Oh ok thanks mate
I can't help but think it could be a little underpowered in a BX?
Anyone own one on here?,also are they 4 or 5 speed ??

cheers

The 1.4 Petrol is surprisngly fast for what it is and thrives on being driven hard, I was very much impressed by my little 14TE which isnt far behind the 16 petrol and alot more willing to rev than the 1.6. Also with a manual choke its a much easier car to hot start.

All 14TE and TGE cars have a 5 speed manual gearbox.

14's are quite nippy and can be economical, IMHO it's a better car than a 16, which isn't that fast, and rather more thirsty than it should be.

Really easy to work on too, there's enough room in the engine bay to climb in with it!

They go really well with an AX GT carby set up too!

Ya know, I was thinking that just the other day.
Neither of my cars are pretty, and both have a few dings and dents, although none were added by me but ya know..

But I have noticed in recent years that even brand new cars seem to get dented, scratched and generally wrecked very quickley.
Is it just that driving standards are worse, or does it come back to this ethos of a throw away society?

I rememebr when I was a good deal younger than I am now, that you'd see even faorly old cars that looked amazing, no dents and well cared for, these days that just doesn't seem to happen..

Its the throw away society Doc, cars are far more affordable these days through finance deals etc so people change them more often etc so if the old ones damaged never mind I wil get anew one soon!

If you had to save for 5 years to buy one you may care about it alot more!

Doc, Any idiot can now afford to drive a new car, so low cost = no interest or pride in looking after something, as long as it works thats the main thing to some people. Glad i'm not the only miserable sod around noticing this type of shit

Your'e right Tim, if there was no pcp, or finance available, people would look after their cars much better as ironically it would cost a lot more money to own a crappier car than the latest fashion statement.

It's not the open road though where cars pick up most of their dings, it's supermarket car parks! You only have to stand there for a moment and see that most people now open their door against the one next to it and when they have kids in the car they also get opened with greater force too!

People really don't seem to care anymore or even what anyone else thinks of them, that witness their actions.

Good points, and a sad reflection of modern society really.

Ok, neither of my cars are prestine, and they're old and french and a bit shit, but I still get pissed when someone opens a door into one of them, or knocks the mirror or whatever, they aint worth anything, but they are still przed posessions to me...
I'm more and more convinced I should have been a child of the forties...

I always try and park either away from anyone, or next to the newest, most expensive car I can find - on the basis that they're unlikely to want to risk their paintwork by opening the doors into my car...
