One from the tropics
Hello all, im new to this forum but not new to Bx's as i've owned mine for 16 years now.
Wanted to show you all how we do things here in Mauritius.
I started building the engine in 2002 and eventually got the car on the road in 2005.
I still use it now, although not every day as its rather heavy on fuel.
It was originally an 88 GTi.

Awesome. And welcome to the club!
Would you like to describe your modifications to the engine as - although I can guess a few obvious things - it's not entirely clear what you've done. How does she perform? The fuel rail looks intriguing...
And as for the clear acetate wing supports: wild !

Thank you Philip,
well there is allot to mention but here are the main points:
1905 cc GTi engine, removed material from the cylinder head to drop the compression (its around 8.5:1). Eight injectors, the extra 4 fitted to special parts machined and welded to the manifold.
The extra fuel rail you can see is actually a stainless steel towel rail!. Which was just the right diameter. The end fittings were then silver soldered on and the injector cups too.
A Garret T3 turbo and intercooler from a Lancia Thema.
Home made exhaust manifold with equal length pipes.
DTA engine management
Power unknown because there are no rolling roads or dyno's here, but my new standard clutch can't take the torque at 4000 RPM and slips.
The engine was rebuilt with new rings, bearings etc. The turbo was also rebuilt after taking it off the Lancia.
Rouben.

Thanks everyone for their appreciaton.
DTA ecu is the E48, one of the early ones. I had to map it from scratch, the only data i had was the ignition timing and a rough idea of injector pulse length.
Its still not properly mapped out, trying to made adjustments to the control box, watch the laptop screen and drive the car at the same time can be a little complicated at times.
I had to reduce the fueling too to stop the clutch from slipping. Anyway it makes it interesting as its an ongoing project.

Welcome, amazing which countries these cars turn up in.
Some of your styling mods i quite like & certainly even the one's which aren't to my taste dont detract from the exemplery finish of the car, it looks brand new
Turbo power, superb, i know you mentioned you dont have any horsepower figures, but as an example what have you raced against & won?

The pictures i took a few years ago and since then the paint has been suffering in the sunshine. I removed the rear wing 2 years ago to repair a crack in it and never got round to doing it.
The wideband 02 sensor was on my wish list but at the time was too expensive to buy. I do have just the Bosch wide band senor with the intention of building a circuit to amplify the signal and drive a guage or led display, but that too was put aside.
The DTA displays its own lambda guage on screen plus i installed an lcd guage which is permanently on so i can see where i'm running lean or rich.
Well for now i only take it up to around 4000 rpm after that its fuelled rich so as not to damage anything. But its definately faster than before the conversion and my engine was sweet as a nut as standard.
Don't race anyone here, have to restrain from doing so because there are many nonse drivers here plus the cops too.
Its cornering that i like the most.
