Hi there,
The BX of choice for everyday use is widely regarded as the TZD Turbo (1.7 litre) or one of the 1.9 (normally aspirated) diesels. In either saloon or estate form. Check out BX Spotting / For Sale sections on here for past and present available BXs.

If you want performance and all the toys a 16v's nice, but I'd recommend a GTi for day-to-day use.

Mileage not a huge issue: it's more to do with how the car has been looked after and maintained. I have a 215k miler and my mate has a TZD estate with 240k miles on it. There are plenty of BXs with 200k or so on their clocks.

The TZi (like a GTi but different trim) had a cat, I believe. They're rare, so not something to worry about.

With the exception possibly of the 16v, you shouldn't need to spend £1,000 on buying one. I'd set my budget at £600 and allow £400 for a good overhaul/service etc.

I'm looking to sell my beloved Hugo. He's a 17 TZD, I'm his third owner. The last owner always had him serviced at Medway Citroen so we have LONG records.

He's in excellent condition, doe sa fantastic mileage and is pretty nippy! He has a scrape on his O/S/R door and needs a radiator sensor replacing as it's leaking... but otherwise he's perfect. I would do the rad sensor myself but I have on-street parking, making this fairly simple job very difficult indeed.

I can't go into it on here, Phil Chidlow knows the story, but suffice to say that Hugo will be scrap this time next year. His sale is out of my hands and I'm 99% certain he's going to be going to a bad home.

In January I will have about a grand to buy an underpowered estate... anyone selling such a car in January please PM me!

Please contact Medway Citroen if you want to save Hugo, but expect a high price.

Isn't the V5 in your name? if so you legally own the car do with what you wish regardless of any situation that you may be in, unless that was included as part of the deal? None of my business of course, just pointing out the legalities of car ownership.

BTW A decent-looking 1.9D estate just went on eBay for a smidge over £400. That would've been a good bet (mind you it depends where you live - it was in Kent, I think)... keep an eye out on eBay, though, as well as here.

Tried Facebook, (have spoken to Medway) even left a message. I trust she's OK. Although she did mention on FB something about air tickets but I don't know for when. Hey ho. All I want to do is buy the car!
