Loving It

Post by Tim Leech »

Pointless post really, but Ive been using my TZI auto alot more than other BXs in the past few years, mainly because its the one Ive always wanted and my present company car is a 2 door c/c so not ideal for ferrying stuff about it.

Anyway all I can say is I LOVE it to bits, its such a pleasure to drive, comfy, quick, smooth, a great driving position and a lovely ride and handling mix, all this for £250! I put some petrol in today after taking her into work for a good clean and a polish and looking out the window of forcourt kiosk I thought even now its a striking looking car with sharp lines compared to bland high sided euroboxes now offered.

Glad you're enjoying your car, no harm in telling everyone that the ownership experience is a pleseant one, might encourage the lurkers on the forum to purchase a bx & then join the forum.

Cheers Mulley, we all hate it when they dont start or spring a LHM leak, but as this one is running like a dream asides a flat battery (now rectified) I thought I would express my enjoyment, I cant wait for the good weather so I can crack on get some of the small jobs out of the way

I do agree, to this day I just haven't ever found another car that I prefer to a BX.
Which is odd since on paper the BX is nothign exceptional, but somehow, when everythings working as it should, it's just a wonderful place to be.

And I speak from a fair chunk of experience of looking after all sorts of random crap cars over the years, the BX is no more prone to spilling fluids and misbehaving than any other car really.
Ok, they have their foibles, and some stuff other cars dont have, but I've never really reached a point working on a BX where I thought "christ I've had enough of this shit" depsite the odd moment of swearing a lot at the time, whereas I've done some pretty straightforward stuff on other cars and I really have thought "I will never ever touch one of these POS again EVER"..

I guess in terms of working on them I've adopted the same thought as to driving them, it's comfortable and well known territory.

Long live the quirky little french car!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

You know what I have to agree with whats been said here so far you simply can not beat the BX.

For me my affair started way back in 1989 with my 3rd Car being a BX14RE from that point I only owned a BX even when I was overseas the BX was waiting for me. When we made that long move to NZ several years ago I had this yearning of missing out. It took me 3 1/2 years to get back to the car I prefered to drive. Now the said part is the Car that filled that void has been a trusty reliable beast and one that the wife took over driving until the TRS came along and well now it sits in the Garage the wife prefering the comfort of the BX.

Theres been times I have sworn and cursed and said thats It! But the truth is you can not beat it compared to a modern car there is just something about a BX that is still ahead of its time.

Did over 100 miles today in the TZI, visiting Mr Seabrooke and Mr Abbot of BX1700 fame, to drop off and pick up parts, she drove faultlessy and thundered up the A50 at 80 completely relaxed, however the satnav sent me the back way and she now filthy

I filled her up on Friday at a cost of £62  and 100 miles later the needles still reading full  I know the redex injector cleaner I put in (half price at tescos) is supposed to help the engine run more efficiently but even so I think the senders stuck!

If you've got the double tank set up which is 66litres, my understanding is that the small extra reserve tank doesnt register until thats empty 1st & then the main tank shows on the display, so on my txd its about 200+miles before it starts moving.

It does look bloody good Tim (but it's Seabrook ta, no e).

I'm loving mine too. Great that we can laugh at the world while we pick up some competent cars for absolute peanuts.

just looking at your 19TZi in the Feb Citroenian Tim and i have to say its a credit to you, looks fantastic, that would be one of my favourite specs and model with the auto and i love the bx in white. I think the comination of TZ wheel trims, the rear black panel windows and the better looking spoiler really make it. Can i have a drive next time i'm in Notts? :D

Bit like its owner then ey Doc!

Max of course you can let me know when your next in the area, the TZI isnt mint and never will be, as I want to be able to use it and park it wherever I like but I will continue to improve it, the head will need doing sometime as it does burn oil when cold and the rear arm bearings are "on their way" but even so I still love it.
