Mark T - BX19 TRS (Ser2) and BX16 TRS (Ser1)

Post by Mark.T »

Hello
Just rejoined after a long time... I live in Australia, near Melbourne, having moved here from the UK in 2005. When I came here I shipped a BX 19 TRS which was in reasonable condition (some usual UK road salt corrosion and a recon. engine block), which I had bought in 1994. Due to bureaucracy down here it took 12 months to get this on the road, and in the mean time I bought an excellent condition Series 1 16 TRS Auto.

Well this is my first photo posting to this forum so let's see if it works - these are my two BXs outside our house last week...

Since buying a house with a decent garage last year I now have the space to work on these (I never had the space in the UK). Looking forward to hearing from people on this forum and keeping these two great cars on the road for years to come.

Very nice BXs and setting too. I don't suppose the Mk.1 has A/C does it? I would have thought almost all BXs originally sold there would have it.

Series 1 aircon

Post by Mark.T »

Yes, the series 1 has aircon, though it is not working at the moment. Here's an interior shot from just after I bought the car - see aircon switch to left.

There are a few more jobs I need to get done before the aircon though. Drivers here are very impatient and both my BXs have been rear-ended in the last 6 months when I didn't pull away fast enough at traffic lights - see below. You can also see that the Series 2 needs a bonnet respray. Yes, the alloys on the S1 are great and are original (previous owner - also on this forum - had car since new). Could possibly get a set for Series 2 but decided to stick with original steel wheels and trims.

I think (hope) the bumper will be OK - it is being held in by the slightly crumpled boot floor. I have a replacement front and rear S1 bumper set, but they are off a GT and have some extra trim I'm not too keen on.

The GT extra trim is affixed with quite a few 8mm bolts, you can remove them but of course will leave the holes behind.
