Finally... A half decent model of the BX

Post by Matt H »

I've been waiting a long time for someone to produce one... and this company has done a 1/18 BX GTi.

Not a 16v sadly, but going off the back catalogue of cars these guys have produced i'd say it's probably on the cards

Available June 2010

Looks great. I bet it's 1:43 though and not 1:18 :(

I take that back! Just been to the website and seen it is indeed 1:18. Yahoo!

Now if I can find a decent CX model somewhere...

I'd probably use the paint-on masking fluid if I had to mask it, but it looks like a lot of the trim, lights etc are removable, so in theory just key the surface, and spray the whole thing, then repaint the black around the windows etc. I'm toying with the idea of repainting my 1:18 2CV (as it's a bit sombre in dark grey...for my tastes anyway) and this would be similar in construction I think.

But... I'd be happy enough to leave it red unless I was sure I could get a good result, so until I have one in my hands...

This is just about a carbon copy of my first (of 13) BXs back in 1993...

Red. GTi with fall-off wheel trims. Love it.

Indeed - an excellent likeness! Now all you have to do is recolour the fog lights, make new number plates for it, and it'll be finished. :)

The conversion from LHD to RHD might prove a little problematical
