ABS Flexi Hoses

These have apparently been difficult/impossible to get for some time; David Rutherford even going to the lengths of adapting non-ABS pipes to fit. Hats off to him for ingenuity though!

I was looking at http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/ the other day (they donated a caliper to a member on the VW LT forum I use who was doing a charity event in Mongolia!)
Anyway, they still do the hose for the BX - I've been in touch with them to check the thread sizes and make sure they still keep stock. I even had someone checking the threads in one of the pipes they had in to make sure!

Dear Mat.
I have been for quite a while now Mat, on the look out for four new
flexi-pipes. to carry in stock as spares Mat

I have been reading the
forums and everything else

Would I be right Mat in thinking that the
flexi-pipes for the standard BX, are readily available

But that the flexi-
pipes for the cars with ABS are different are they Mat

and
also Mat, are they not readily available then Mat

or am I worried
about nothing

Vince, yes, the ABS one's are different & they appear to be less of them available than the non ABS one's.

Dear Matthew and Caffiend.
Thank-you both very very much, for all of your kind information.
I have just E-Mailed them about the price and availability including
VAT etc, etc. About both handbrake cables, two rear flexi-hoses, two
front flexi-hoses and also if they can supply a full set of front brake pad
warning light wires and sensors too

I will let you know what they come back with, when they reply

We use a company at work (dealing with kit cars) called Earls, who make braided steel hoses to order. You tell them the length, threads and even the colour and they make them for you. Wouldn't realistically need replacing again and they're cheaper than you'd think. I'll be popping some on the 16v when the rubber ones let go.

HEL braklines also do custom order jobs. But they do list the BX on their order catalogue.

I just wish the coucil would do a barn, so that I could have lots more
cars

Did anyone save a copy of Dave Rutehrfords ABS pipe modification guide? His site has been down since he moved, and i haven't been able to find a web copy anywhere.

Let me know if you pulled a copy off the site!

I have here on my shelf one new flexi hose in its original Citroen parts bag the part number is 4506.FP the P isn't all that clear so could be an R .

The number doesn't link to anything on my Citroen disk so could fit anything, if you guys can ID it and would like to buy it it's £12.00 including the UK postage.

I didn't save a copy

As a bit of an update I bought a pair of hoses from the link I gave, and can confirm that they do fit. Looking at the hose markings it appears as though they use the same rubber supplier as the original Citroen hoses - the text is identical. So they should last a reasonable length of time.

It could be that the SAE J1401 standard for hoses specifies the font type and size. I'm really after a picture of the differences between an ABS one and a Non ABS one.
