As some may know my wife ordered a new Citroen C1 and my old TGD manual was going in scrappage against it. (I know but it was 2 grand)
The C1 was ordered 2nd December with 6-10 weeks delivery, ever since we have been messed about something chronic with a petrol C1 being ordered by the salesman and delivered to the dealer instead of the diesel car I ordered, I was then given numerous delivery dates for the correct car which came and went without the car being delivered. When it didn't come last week I was told althought the car had been delivered into the system it was now missing and they were doing all they could to find it!
I came home fuming telling the wife how I just wanted to tell them to get stuffed but they had us over a barrell and we couldn't now go elsewhere because the scrappage scheme had now finished.
She then uttered those magic words ' tell them to get stuffed and get the deposit back' .What about your new car I asked? She then told me she had been wondering for a few weeks how to tell me she had gone off the idea since she has been driving my TZD (ex Tourist) and loves it! ''silky smooth and loads of power'' , She then said ''why should we waist money on a new car, you can use some of the money to build the extension to your garage you have always wanted''
What a result I now have my fantastic condition TGD Auto as my everyday comuter with an equaly good TZD weekend car and a garage extension on the way!

Old TGD manual will now be a parts car.

And you have a Landy too, as well as a very understanding wife who even allows you to keep a parts car. Surely your life is complete!

My wife has a 107, and I am attracted by its "honesty", and to me it seems about as close as you can get to a basic car these days, in the 2CV ethos. (I do also like the 3 cylinder petrol engine, theoretically better balanced than a 4 cylinder).

I just ignore the Toyota name on the block

Aha, sounds like it all worked out for the best in the end. And at least you're probably adding value to the property rather than crippling depreciation of a new motor :D

I was still driving the TGD until last week waiting for the wife to get the C1 and me get my TZD back, but I bought a TGD Auto a couple of weeks ago which I have now put on the road as the wife is keeping the TZD. The tax runs out on the old TGD at the end of the month so I will just park it up now.
I think the saleman was relieved in the end that I cancelled he didn't hesitate giving me my deposit back and never tried to get me to change my mind. I think he had been trying to cover his arse for ordering a petrol instead of a diesel and had hoped to be able to find one in the system but I had ordered a lot of options VTR spec with leather etc. so he was out of luck.
I've since been sent a customer satisfaction survey to fill in about my new car buying experience, I'm going to have fun filling that in

Yes I think it will be appreciation now rather than the old depreciation.

Yes Mat the Landy is my divebus for my weekend diving and as you'll know the running costs of a Landy can be quite high so I've convinced myself that by running the TGD Auto as my everyday comuter instead of the Landy I will recover the £300 annual cost of tax / insurance (£109 classic car policy) of the BX, I didn't take much convincing mind and I'm not sure the wife believes me

Nice one! I hate scrappage. Just makes dealers rich... (waves at Tim, then runs!)

Glad the wife's got taste. As it happens, I quite like the C1 too, but I bet you could get a nice discount now scrappage is over anyway.
