I'll guess we won't be seeing you, then?Defender110 wrote:Is it free? The way I've read this thread up to now is that you have to pay up to £21 to Gaydon to allow your car to be used as an exibit that they can charge for as an attraction????
Unfortunately, nothing in this world is for free. It's very likely that the club will - again - subsidise the running of the event from the membership fees, since the gate charges are very close to the (reduced from normal admittance) prices Gaydon are charging. The aim is not to make a profit, but to run a good event.
Normal entrance to the museum is £9/person. We're charging £9 for car & driver, £7 for each additional passenger.
Camping is £12/unit. That's not only considerably cheaper than most camp sites in the area, but includes the presence of - well - us lot.
I'm not sure if you're a CCC member or not - but there's actually no difference in the gate prices for members and non-members. So, if you do turn up, but aren't a member - please remember to say a little thank you to those members who haven't attended yet will probably have helped to pay for your day.

Shhh, don't say that otherwise I'll probably get charged double if I turn up in a large, tatty camper van!Defender110 wrote:you have to pay up to £21 to Gaydon to allow your car to be used as an exibit that they can charge for as an attraction????
I should be going Saturday and camping over - I may make an effort to arrive slightly earlier than is customary for me (last year it was about 11pm, at which point I promptly lit a disposable barbecue still in its cardboard packaging... )
I've enjoyed it every time I've been - in my eyes an event is what you make it to be. This one sounds like it should have a more varied appeal so fingers crossed.

I do sympathise that it is more expensive than previous years BUT the venue is LOADS better (not just a field), and if youve never been to the Heritage Museum then its a must see for any petrol head, plus this is THE Citroen Show of the year in the UK and theres always plenty of BXs on site so start saving your pocket money!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Unless i'm mistaken its considerably cheaper than in previous years at Huntingdon, and as Tim says its a WAY better site.
However the Citroen meet of the year is clearly the Stratford meet
But seriously, it's well worth it, i can only think of two events that are of the same size/enjoyment levels that are cheaper, and then only because i'm staff!

Me: Hello, could I have a ticket for driver plus one vehicle.
Gate Staff: Is that a Citroen?
Me: Yes, It's a C25.
Gate Staff: Just you is it?
Me: Oh yes, just me.
Gate Staff: Your rear suspension looks very low....
Me: That's just tired springs.
Gate Staff: Are you sure?
Me: Oh yes, the back of my van is always on it's bumpstops. There's definitely not 34 people in the back trying to get in for free.....
OOps...

You would, yes. BTW, did I mention the £2 charge per car entering under it's own power but without any driver...?mat_fenwick wrote:What if you get the car rolling forwards, in gear with the engine on, and then get into the passenger seat? Would you save £2?toomany2cvs wrote:Car & Driver - £9
