Rear arm bearings.

Rear arm bearings.
At what kind of mileage do you expect the rear arm bearings to start to fail/need changing? My 1.9 TGD is coming up to 50k, i suspect they might need attention soon as i hear strange noises from the back end occaisionally, and also it looks as if the wheels are towing out a tiny bit. Your thoughts will be welcome, Cheers Chris

I would think so. They are most noticeable when the car has been sat for a while.
The rollers in the bearing come loose and will jam until you get in, the crack you hear is the rollers getting mashed.
Not a bad to do, but get under there with some good penetrating oil on those pesky R clips that hold the push rod into the swing arm. If these are seized and snap off when you're trying to get them out, it becomes a real pain of a job.

With worn arm bearings you can get a loud crack sound from the car when it is parked as it sinks down, scaring anyone near by.
The bearings are best replaced sooner rather than later as the casting gets damaged, which probably means the new bearings wont last as long as they should.
