£2000 doesnt buy you much these days!
Two large buys plenty these days Tim, and I mean plenty. I could find a wealth of modern(ish) cheap, reliable cars for that much and a fair bit less besides.

Probably wishful thinking on my part....

Agree with Billster though, £2K buys quite a lot of big car right now!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Indeed big cars are cheap as, small reliable economical ones especially autos is a different story.

Anyway, anyone want to buy my 16TRS for £3000 then

don't knock the prices - I remember years and years ago all the efforts the Bond owners Club made to keep prices down, to stop cars being exported and all that happened is that lots of cars that were worth restoring were scrapped instead.

Do you really want that to happen to BXs. If you have one, what does it matter what it is worth - the more the better if you want to see them on the road and to see companies remake bits for them.

Frankly, a 30,000 mile mint car was well worth £2k - all day long - you're just all used to seeing them as old bangers that you've forgotten that they have appreciated in value.

My messerschmitt cost me £200 when I bought it - want to buy it off me - give me £20k! Is it worth £20,000!!! Of course not, but that is the going rate for a very tidy one.

We're now no longer in the realms of BXs as old bangers but as the quirky, fun, interesting classics they have become.

Spread the word about how good they are, get it mentioned in the Classic press and watch the prices go up a bit, and be happy you own one already!

Out of interest, and if you'd rather not say then fair enough, but how much is your GT insured for, Tim? A concourse winner must be worth a few grand at least?

Its insured for £2000 agreed value now, would it fetch that? dunno, its a petrol BX but a rare one and obviously now quite well known in Citroen Circles, odd to think less than 3 years ago it was a week away from being scrapped!

This forum isnt the place to sell cars, never has been as we all have at least one (or four  ) and to most they are still a cheap quirky old car.

There's a straight looking phase 1 16V on ebay at the moment (can't post the link from here, plus probably worth it's own thread) that was North of £1k when I last looked with 100k on the clock and what looks like a replaced front bumper, plus rust in the rear door shuts that needs sorting. Worth noting that according to sources it sold at Blackbushe recently for £350 (probably plus costs)....

Our phase 1 has under 50k on the clock (with full history) and if my old man ever gets round to tidying the paint properly it wouldn't be sold for under £2.5k. It's also had a new head after the old one suffered corrosion damage. It did just under 2k miles last year, about 200 the year before....
