BX TZD on ebay, what is it worth?

Post by James1 »

Hi all,

Not necessarily a spotted but I am selling my BX on ebay so thought I would let you guys know. The link is;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1993-CITROEN-BX-1 ... 2308f1a6a1

I have no idea what it is worth so would really appreciate any advice.... It was a friends parents and they no longer wanted it as they didn't know whether it would get through its MOT, I love old cars and thought it was too nice to scrap so bought it from them, I have had it MOT'd and loved driving it for the past few weeks, but have too many cars as it is so can't really keep it.

I am no expert on BX's but I find its condition for the age of the car really impressive, particularly the interior. All the electrics work perfectly and it even has electric windows in the back! The only thing that doesn't work is the rev counter.

Does anyone have an idea of what they think it is worth or know anyone who may be interested.

The car is located in Medway in Kent.

I spotted that and believe it's pretty much the most popular BX model (16v's aside), being the turbo diesel. Expect for it to reach somewhere in the region of £450-£550. You might be lucky and get more, but unfortunately BX prices these days although climbing slowly are still pretty low (ie a good buy!)...

Cheers for your thoughts Phillip.

Tomorrow morning is fine Steve, I'll text details shortly.

Anyone else got any ideas of roughly what a nice example is worth? (Not you Steve!)

Everyone has an opinion on what a good one actually is, if its mechanically sound & has had the usual parts that go replaced reasonably recently, then if there's strong interest you could see a fair bit more than what has already been quoted, but don't expect to see thousands of pounds  Perhaps in a about 5yrs, then i bet you probably won't see much change from £1500-£2k (just my opinon of course). Values could actually go down as spares become scarce & rust starts killing semi-decent one's off etc..... Who knows, it may sell for bog all, that's why i'd personally not sell anything on e-bay.

Were they the only Halfords trims available at the time, every BX without genuine trims appears to have theses on????

I would agree with Phils gestimate, althought not realy high mileage at 128,000 I doubt it fetching any more, there are still cars out there with a lot less mileage & service history fetching less than 1k.

You're not wrong, Paul. Sometimes it does feel like everything's in Kent. Not so much 'normal' BXs though,. I was sitting at traffic lights once and some schoolgirls were walking past. I distinctly heard one say to her friend that if they screwed up their exams mine was the type of car they'd end up having to get. Bloody cheek!

At least the little toe-rags won't be wanting to steal it then.

You're so right.

SWMBO and I were coming back from the Docklet Outside centre once - I couldn't find the car keys. I sent her to trace our route in the car park, while I went to ask security. Three minutes later she called me - I'd left the keys in the car door.

The car was untouched, needless to say.

Hope that TZD works out for you.

It's the centre of the universe is Kent...

Geographically you are a little unfortunate really Paul. I've been to and around Lincoln a fair few times in the past, and aside from Luke the 16V man there's not really much around your neck of the woods...
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
