How long you had your current BXs

Post by kiwi »

Even though the first BX I owned was way back on the 13th January 1988 8) I remember that day for some reason :D

I was trying to work out which one I have had the longest and I think I have it now the BX 19TZS I have now owned for 4 years this coming October. Still got 3 years to go after that to be claimed as the longest Car I have owned and driven which was not a BX

I think the longevity of car ownership for me now boils down to lack of risk from external influences. Either that or just getting older 8)

I've had the valver for, er, 6 or 7 years now.
The red one I've had for 12 years, or at least bits of it, since there isn't a lot left of the original car now!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I've had the red estate for four and a half years now. When I bought it it had a couple of months MOT on it - enough time to sort out a few wrinkles and get through the next test with a few minor fails which were sorted the same day to get a pass.

I've kept on top of maintenance since then doing a lot myself and with the help of ex Citroën Andy Baker (Andy's Autos, Woking) and the last 3 MOTs it just sailed through without any advisories. I reckon I have another 4 years to go with it.

I've had the grey estate for nearly four years now. The white one for six I think, and the other white one (crashed and about to be cut up) since 1999 - started life as a 1988 1.6 TRS petrol, ended up with the mechanics and trim of a 1990 TZD and the identity of a 1989-ish TGD - long story!

In between I had a grey saloon called Bagpuss (it was saggy, and loose at the seams) which someone gave me, and I briefly owned a very late red TZD estate with aircon and cruise control (It was for parts, and I still regret not having the time/space at the time to break it so it went to the breakers intact  ), and another red TZD I'd forgotten about 'til now.
There was also another one I broke early on. I think that's about it!
1990 BX TZD Estate ('the grey one', 1991 BX TZD Estate ('the white one'), 1982 2CV6 Charleston (in bits), 1972 AZU Serie B (2CV van), 1974 HY72 Camper, 1990 Land Rover 110 diesel LWB, 1957 Mobylette AV76, 1992 Ducati 400SS, 1966 VW Beetle, 1990 Mazda MX-5, 1996 Peugeot 106D, 1974 JCB 2D MkII, 1997 BMW R1100RS, 1987 Suzuki GSX-R1100, 1978 Honda CX500A, 1965 Motobecane Cady, 1988 Honda Bros/Africa Twin, 1963 Massey Ferguson 825, and a lot of bicycles!

Me & Monica have been together for 4 & 1/2 years now. My longest BX relationship prior to this was 3 years (96-99) with my original 14 (F241BCK).

Had the estate for about 17 years now.

Pulled a caravan to and into France a few times.

Never seems to run without a load on board.

Wife really likes this motor !!!!!!!!!!! :D :D

Current BX 2 years almost to the day, the longest-owned one was the GTi I bought when I returned to France in early 2003. That finally went in late 2006.

I bought my first BX in 1993...

6.5 years and ~90k miles (and counting!) So who's done the most miles in their current BX? I suspect Discoil will be in the running, 17 years is probably a few more miles than me.

I think it has only about 150,000 miles on it 8)

Bx ,1989 model, fully laden, seats down, caravan ( laden ) on tow going up and down hills and into wet fields is not recommended

My Disco seems to be used for long hauls now. 1990 model.

11 years, 4 months and 12 days :D

I have done about 110,000 miles in Daisy since she became mine - I don't get out much :(

But in almost 23 years of continuous BXing, since we ( Steve & me) bought our first 19RD new in September 1987, we reckon we have covered over 350,000 BX miles alone (not counting the 2nd car).
Daisy is our 5th BX

The current one I've only had for a few months/

The one in my avatar I had for six years or so - which included a couple of tours around France. I was so excited when I got that Meteor for £600 from the parts manager at a Citroen main dealer - I still have 1 and a half clutches, a wing, power steering rack(?) and various trim bits that came with it, and all were brand new.

I'd only get rid of the current one if a very good tzd were to come my way.
