This car has a set of door handle protectors on it, I have enquired if they are for sale, they are but they want £25 inc P&P!, which is too steep for me.

Also it has a sunroof deflector!

I've asked about the passenger door - if I get it and the protector comes off intact then it will be up for grabs.

How does one remove the door handle protectors anyway? I don't think it deserves a 'technical sticky' but there's a wreck round the corner here with them on and I would be interested to know!

I think you have to remove the door handle to fit them though. But this is a vague 'think' based on a quick look at an unopened packet that I saw..

Eeek, that means taking off all the door cards, can you imagine the labour charge at the dealer when they were fitted new!

Tim, you were right - they are simply stuck on with some double-sided tape. I say 'simply' but after 20 years they're pretty hard to remove without breaking them.
I just went and removed the set from that wreck around the corner. The mechanic told me to just take them as he was fully involved with an old Merc.
Maybe a hair-dryer would have helped but it's quite a warm day here today and I only slightly cracked one of them.

It would have been too mad - as you pointed out - that the handles would have had to have been removed for installation!

You mean you don't carry one in your tool kit?

The other option would have been to cut them out of the door panel and weld them into your doors - would give you some practice before tackling the yellow Break...

I've got a price for the door which apparently is in good condition. No price for delivery yet but if anyone else is going for bits would they be able to store it for me please?
