1989 19 TRi Auto Estate One Owner, For Sale (Auto-Trader)

Post by RxBX »

As title listing spotted on AUTO-TRADER, Olympic Blue, 84k, £495 (But note short MOT) but a nice tidy looking Auto Estate.

If it was a Diesel I may have looked at it for myself, best of luck if anyone off the Forum secures this !

That is one nice BX. Rare too. It has the Jetronic injection (basically a GTi estate) and the later GTi interior. In a beautiful colour and good provenance. And look how tidy the engine bay is...

I'd say that is a great opportunity for someone here. Being an auto too makes it very desirable - assuming you're not obsessed with mpg.

I'd buy it (if my GTi hadn't just got it's MOT).... Oh, and if I could afford it!

Fingers crossed it goes to someone who'll continue to care for it - it looks a good 'un.

depends on how you drive it, I would say 25-35 overall, nice car to drive if not that frugal, but then again its not alot of money.

Are they any good the autos. Ive always been bought up on diesle and manual. Its going againest every thing i belive. To a petrol and a auto. What are they like for winter always say desile and mauals are better.
I keep looking at it on autotrader. I could swap mine and get oranginal bx. I know theres hardley mot on it. But it looks really tidy. Ive got 200 pound to spend 300 pushing it. Should i do a deal with him or spend the 200 or 300 on my bx.

Depends what you want from the car really Paul.
Auto's are nice things to drive, but petrol auto's are thirsty.
ZF 4HP's can be a tad troublesome, although they aint hard to rebuild if you know what you're doing..

With the cost of fuel rising yet again, and with another fuel duty rise soon (Feb is it?) do you really want to let a TD go for a car that will use more fuel?
Ok, petrol is a tad cheaper than diesel, but the gap has narrowed, and an automatic petrol will use a good deal more fuel than a manual Diesel.

If it were me, I'd be keeping the Diesel, although I already have a TD, and a 16v, and a TD automatic in stock so you know, I have options!

Also bear in mind that any BX is an old car now, therefore they are all prone to the same problems, so there's no guarentee that this one wont have the same faults, or devolpe other faults etc.

With little enough effort I really think your car could be made very nice, and the advise list was nothing I'd be shitting the bed over.
Like I said before, you've got some time to get some bits together, then early next year or so, either ask for some help to fit said, or come along to a weekend event and we'll get your car sorted.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

He's probably taken it as a chop in and just selling it as it stands.
