Oil Pressure Sender

I have a problem with the sender, in that the gauge flicks from zero to full oil pressure at random intervals. It has done this for the last 2 years or so, so I suspect it is the sender telling porkies and not real oil pressure problems...
The sender and gauge were originally out of an (F reg?) 16v, and therein lies my problem. If I go to my local stealer he won't do anything without a chassis number, despite me telling him that it's no point giving him a chassis number from a car which never had a sender originally! "Can't help you then mate" is the helpful reply.

So - can anyone who still has access to PR net confirm whether there is more than one sender type? If there is just one, then if I know the part number I can just give 'em that…or failing that anyone care to give me a valver chassis number please?

Seems to be the same all through the range oil pressure switch part number 1131.14 sending unit, 1131.69 Gibbo.

The last one I brought for the 16v about 4 years ago, came from a Peugeot/Citroen dealer @ £53.79.

A Jaeger unit……………. Came up as part No..C 113169 as Gibbo mentioned..

Kitch, I don't (or shouldn't!) need the chassis no. as I now have the part number - if he's still being awkward I'll let you know....thanks anyway.

I'll probably try and cross reference it first, as £54 is not cheap - I'm guessing 205 GTis have the same sender. Actually, I've just had an idea - I could raid the one from our 205 that's sat doing nothing! Doh.

Excellent! Thanks, I hadn't even considered that it would be available as an aftermarket part so hadn't bothered asking at the factors. A quick Google search suggests they are around £20.

They are renowned for being utter cock mind, oh, and you can have my chassis number aswell if you like, that'd really fuck the stealer over if you give him 2!

My oil sender has been doing that for years.

I will change it, but perhaps the oil will fall out if I don't change it after the oil has been drained.

Does anyone know if this will happen?

The oil temp sensor is in the sump, and yes, the oil will drain if thats undone.
But the oil pressure sensor is on the front of the engine (ok technically the side of the engine but meh) under the inlet manifold and above the oil filter. That wont loose any oil if undone, I mean, ok, maybe a tiny tiny drop, but thats it.
Absolute pig to get at without a bit of dismantling or having very petite hands though!
I modified a spanner for the job, and have petite hands, so I'm laughing!

Update - have fitted the sender and all is well again! The job is a lot easier on an XUD than a valver though...
