Hi,
I have pm'ed the seller asking about service history, mileage, price, pictures etc. I am local to it so if any of you want me to check it out and get pictures of certain grot spots - owners of similar could tell me what to look for.

For anyone interested in this car, this is the reply I received from Monkeyfeet on FCF a few days ago

"Hi Anne Marie
Thanks for the questions, I should have included some more details really, so hope this helps: Mileage is around 165K, servicing has mostly been done by me (oil and filter around every 5K, or nearish to), likewise I've done sphere and LHM changes in the past and the easy-ish to do by home mechanic items I've done myself. From memory I had a garage do cam belt change while I did the shims. I'll dig out the history and put it on the thread. I could take some photos and post or link to them too, see what you think first, save you a visit for now.
It must have been sat for over three years now, it's been started and run round the block but not for a while, I'd best chuck in a battery and try it at the weekend.
Hope I've covered all your questions,
Mark. "

PM him on FCF

AM :)

The GTi 8v is a great car Anne-Marie, with the full complement of electric toys, comfy seats and nice firm HP suspension that does not wallow like some other variants.

It's difficult to say what might have deteriorated in 3 years of being off road but do expect to replace the discs and pads as rusting/pitting occurs that the MOT man doesn't like. You will be able to see the condition of the fronts but not the backs as they are concealed behind cover plates. :D

As mentioned the cheapest way to find out how sound the car is by taking it for an MOT.
