TGD AUTO 1991 MOTd & Taxd but needs HG - £100

Post by Thickasmud »

As per my thread in the technical section, I hoped somebody from the forum would like to take on this car. She recently overheated due to the thermostat / fan not engaging so will definately need as a minimum a new headgasket.

She passed the MOT mid August, so has 10 months to run.
Last week - New Radiator, thermostat, fan temp switch and gaskets
Aug 2010 - reconditioned steering pinion, new frnt return pipes, new michelin energy rear tyres.
2009 -New Small Octopus, headlight, inner frnt arches welded, new frnt tyres
front suspension bushes, fresh LHM filters, New main octopus.
2008/9-Reconditioned Diesel fuel pump, new rear engine water pipes.

She has covered 177k and I have the service record from 88k from the previous owner. Has been regularly used as an everyday family car and returned between 45 and 62 mpg on mway runs.
Starts as it should, lifts normally, stops straight and drove beautifully. Body work is used but quite presentable. PAS Excellent and even a rebuilt sunroof. Clean TGD interior with 4 headrests. All the electrics work and apart from the HG the only issue I am aware of is the weeping heater tap from the matrix.

Road Tax finishes end of the month so will weigh her in if no takers, I am prepared to deliver her within a reasonable distance from London should somebody step forward to save her.

Extremely

Very very sadly I am going to drive her to the breakers yard later this afternoon. If anyone wants trim, new tyres (would need to exchange), radiators etc and is prepared to collect or strip the car I will delay until the weekend but need to know in next couple of hours.

Everything worked apart from the need for a new headgasket.

Richard, I think Ken is putting a call-out (Maybe you) to rescue it, after all you like to try to rescue any ^^bx> which is in danger of being scrapped !

that's the general idea

The plan is to go down to London in the XM and recover this BX asap, just awaiting an opportunity to get to London.
Unless anyone else wants to step in..........
