Can't be just after starting as the oil level gauge (which incorporates the oil pressure lamp) isn't illuminated. IIRC the level gauge stays lit for about 15 seconds after starting, then it goes out and the gauge does nothing.
Most likely I think is low fluid level....

Oil pressure light is just to the left of the oil level meter - and it's out so there's oil pressure and it's at least 10 seconds after starting because the oil level gauge is back at its normal position - engine is running.

Something smells a little Kipperish to me .I asked him about any paperwork to back up the low mileage(service records or old MOT certificates etc). He says that his Dad threw it all away last week??????????

I've got somewhat brassed off with this seller, it's like pulling teeth getting info out of them.

I've offered the BIN price + pay for road tax, all I need is a contact number to go view, pay and collect.

However, it's not coming, so I have to think they don't want to sell it.

Perhaps due to it's problems they were hoping to sell it on ebay without viewing with buyer collecting after they have bought it. It could also be that they are not regular computer users, I note they only have 11 feedback with no buying or selling in the last 12 months so they could be genuinely nieave to the workings of e-bay. Those of us who use it regularly wrongly assume everybody in the world is fully up to speed with e-bay when they are not.
I get the feeling they may think the problems with this car are actually worse than we think they may be.

i'd quite fancy a diesel auto - nice and relaxed drive ... maybe too relaxed! But, i'm repeatdly told i've too many cars already and this would not go down well - it'd have to loose the sunroof too - i need headroom. Steve

I dont now how you could loose the sunroof?

yep - what i really meant was a diesel auto without sunroof - I don't think they exist. A bubble dome in place of the sunroof would look daft!

They never made a BX diesel auto estate, they did however make a 19RD auto from late 86 onwards which had no sunroof until the TGD replaced it in late 89 when it became standard.
