hows your bx in the snow
I went out to my car this morning. It got stuck well bad. We manged to get it out. Tyers spinning smoke comming up. And we look on the floor. There was engine oil and hydrolic fluid. fresh stuff. In the snow.
Could i have done somthing to the pipes or somthing. I got the hydrolic leak sorted out. It was a split returne pipe. Unless there was oil what spilt. When i was topping it up. Got really hot. Then dript down the engine.
Iknew i should have got that green bx 4x4. On autotrader ages ago.

I'm digging my 1993 BX TXD TD out this morning. The old girl handles so much better in ice and snow that I'd trust her to get me most places (the places I need to go, anyway!).
My usual 'daily', a 52-plate Renault Laguna Sports Tourer Dynamique 2.0 16v, with traction control, etc., etc., doesn't hold a candle to the BX in winter conditions.
Plus....the heater warms up WAY quicker on the BX too....addded bonus!

Witness my BX yesterday; it was like an ice rink, with cars all over. There was one bit where a Ford, a Merc and a brand new Mini were stranded - not being able to manoeuver let alone go forward at a junction. Traffic was backing up behind me and it was becoming blocked. Not wishing to get held up I carefully angled the BX as best I could and took my feet off the pedals.
The car did the rest (thanks to the natural forward creep of the automatic) and I was on my way... much the the incredulous looks of the others.
I can't help thinking (especially as far as the Mini driver was concerned) a little patience and a light foot (or in my case no foot) is the answer in these cases. Her wheels were spinning like a top!

What the best way of driving theses beeasts in the snow. Mines a 1.7td. My clio 1.9 d was good in the snow. Used to make that thing dance. Just need more practice. But i must admit the reck and pinon steering is superb. You can feel the car so much better. Compaered to that 06 ghia tdi mondeo i took out to a test drive.

I drove to work the other morning on compacted snow and it didn't even slip a wheel.

Even that isn't enough - even when you are on gritted roundabout when young speeding driver fails to stop at the roundabout, hits you, spins you round and drives off.scarecrow wrote:Carefully.jacksun1987 wrote:What the best way of driving theses beeasts in the snow.

Bit worried about that leak i saw. Of the green stuff bright as day it was. I was giving it sum to get out the snow. But surly that could do anything to the suspansion.

Antifreeze maybe???? Over revving the engine resulting in increased pressure in the cooling system and expansion outside of the expansion tankjacksun1987 wrote:Bit worried about that leak i saw.
