Off the road since 2007 due to a fuelling problem, 77000 miles, 2 owners, full history, needs some slight fettling and a damn good clean! Totally stock and original. Starts and runs, just had the spheres done.

Tim, I hope it turns out not to be too rotten. That's my only worry... But well done, I hate to think what the fate of that BX would've been if you hadn't 'rescued' it. I fear the six years plus my ill-fated 16v sat in that wood was just too much.

The very best of luck. Get this one sorted and you should be congratulated.

I had a look underneath whilst it was on the ramp on "high", all seems ok except the exhaust hangers and some surface rust on the sills, there was no fluids on the trailer when we drove it off.

As soon as the weather improves it wil be in for a MOT and a damn good steam clean!

Well done Tim. There couldn't be more of an extreme look for the 'before' photo. I look forward to the 'after'

Well today I finally managed to get at the GTi, after a quick wash most of the green algi has gone and it looks alot more presentable. However the bonnet and roof where it was left under the tree have suffered from bird shit so will need painting. Also where the nasty RAC badges were fitted have left two holes and a square of paint missing which came away with the badge.

On the plus side, it started first time and after some twiddling is ticking over nice and smoothly at 1000rpm. The heater is useless, which made me wonder if the H/G is gone but its not overheating etc so I expect the matrix may need flushing or the heater tap is stuck, the fan cuts in fine and theres no "cold" spots in the rad and ive bled all the air out and put 2 litres of antifreeze in.

Everything works, remote locking, windows x 4, sunroof (although very stiff) and all the lights bar one front fog lamps.

Washing off the grime has showed a few bumps and bangs as you would expect but nothing major.

MOT on Wednesday!

PS anyone got a mint white short nosed bonnet????

As per PM, although SMiffy has designs on it aswell, not that it matters really, I know I have another for him that came off the other white P1 I scrapped.
