Paul that's not a BX that's a flying boat and maybe those older people standing on it have 'passed away' and you can get your hands on it? They saved lots of money by having a vehicle that was, like, half boat, half plane rather than having a separate boat and a separate plane.

I think I can now answer some of the questions that were levelled against this car.
The warning light on the dash is in fact the low fluid level, this comes on when the car is in the high position.
The car was owned by an elderly gent who has given up driving (can't blame him living near Heathrow) All the tyres look either new or very recent, the spare has never been on the road.
There is no free-play in the wiper motor and no visable signs of rust anywhere that I can see. Even the boot floor and the lip along the back of the boot all looks good, the A,B & C pillars are all rust free.
The old chap had indeed thrown out all the paper work for the car, thinking the car was finished, after all, it is 20 years old. So is the mileage genuine? I don't it's far off.
The reason for it's slow acceleration was a broken pedal box. Some kind garage man had adjusted the kick-down cable instead of the throttle cable to help the owner get it home. This made for a very interesting drive with the car wanting to change down at 55mph.
and getting above that was like hard work.
The car is in need of a good clean and hoover out, the seats need a good wash and there are a couple of scratches on the near side. It's worst bit is a cracked front bumper, oh, and the radio doesn't work.
And finally, the fuel gauge was correct
It's the first time I've ever bought a car with a full tank of juice

Well done Ken, good buy. I was just thinking today on my way home how much I love driving my Auto. The manual TZD is smoother and quicker but the auto is my favourite commuter.
p.s. You kept that quiet

Well done Ken,
So have you got one of those E-Bay Sniper Bidding software packs down-loaded on to your PC Ken ?
Anyhow, I glad you got it and you've sorted most of it out !

That's was exactly my prediction of the problem when I was discussing this with Tim as he was going to have a bid on it but left it to me, you out bid me by only £10 but who was the bidder who missed it by only £5 ?ken newbold wrote:...................

Tim and I expected that Ken was going to have a bid for it (That's why I didn't bid on it any more) but as the seconds were ticking down with only a few seconds to go before the end of the listing, Kens bid appeared just in time as I nearly placed another bid to out bid the £259 above my bid !Defender110 wrote:........................ p.s. It's a bit of software that places a bit for you in the last few seconds of the auction ending. I use a radio controlled digital clock and sometime earlier in the day I check its 'offset' by clicking on 'ebay official time' (always at the bottom of all ebay pages). If I clicked on it at 11:03:00 and ebay official time returns 11:03:07 then my offset is 7 seconds and I have to factor that into the time I bid on the item. So if the item ends at 15:23:32 I would place my bid at 15:23:20 according to my clock which is 5 seconds before the auction end leaving any competing bidders only 5 seconds to reply which is nigh on impossible. You do have to guess how much others are going to bid and whether it's worth trying to beat that.Hello - what's an ebay sniper bidding software package then?
One item I was after had quite a bit of interest and looking at the bid pattern to date it seemed there were going to be some last minute bids - and there were - 4 bids in the last 11 seconds - one at 11s - one at 10s - one at 9s and one at 8s before. My bid was the one at 8s and was 50p higher than the last one and I won the item

Keeping up the ebay tradition of taking pics of your car straight after it's had a bath, here's a couple of pics in the sunshine today.
The 3 scratch marks on this side can be clearly seen. These along with the cracked front bumper seem to be the only things that are leting this car down. The rest of the bodywork seems to be dent and scratch free.

and finally, here's the culprit. Changing pedal boxes on BX auto's is certainly much easier than the manual ones.
