14E back on the road again.

Post by citroenboi »

Hey, Just thought i'd post a few pics of the 14E after picking her up yesterday. She failed the mot in 2009 very badly on rust as well as multi page failure sheet. I didn't have the heart to scrap her so got the work done and now she's back on the road again. Will probably be coming to the national in her this year.

Great save, i really like the simplicity of your basic mk1 :D

I'd paint your sills with some black hammerite paint, it would make it look smarter & finish off the looks nicely.

That's lovely - well done! =D>

As much as the skirted, spoilered and speedlined GTi's look nice, there's something refreshing about a simple spec car - especially a Series 1 in a cheerful colour on steel wheels. Excellent.

I have my beedy eye on a series 2 14E leader at the moment... It's not run for more than 10 years, and has been kept in a garage.

Here's the thing, when I was 17, I worked at a main Citroen dealer, and I'm quite sure I worked on this car helping the trained Citroen mechanic do the P.D.I. when it was new!

As far as i can tell all the base model cars which had the door tops painted body colour not black had the sills in body colour too and not in black. Like this one.

That's very nice. Any chance of posting the fail sheet from 2009? :D I suppose I can more or less guess the issues. Have you re-piped it as it would have had the non-coated early steel ones? I have had to do every pipe on my Mk.1 Break. ( I do go on about it but I'm still in trauma!)

By the way I sent you a PM re your Mk.1 Break - how is it?

Looking at your list of BXs I see that you really are 'Mr Mk.1' 8)
