Whatever, I think Max got himself a nice BX there, at a very reasonable price. Can't wait to hear how it goes driving it back the NI. Well done Mr G.

Hi yes i did win the auction. I've really been missing my BX :)

And i really like the design of the TZS saloon with the plastic windows in the C pillars, and no spoiler, esp. in white.

However, i wish i'd asked the seller for these pics before putting that final bid in... I texted him this morning prompted by Richard's comments on here to see if I could get photographs of the rust.

the windscreen doesn't look too bad but the rear door shut looks a bit developed for my liking, the inner box sections and wings could be full of it. It has a pin hole here, he told me, but i'm sure a screwdriver could easily clear enough to get a couple of fingers through.

He says in the listing it 'looks to be very solid underneath' but i wouldn't be so sure.

The last BX i had didn't have any developed corrosion like this apart from a front wheel arch. Just a bit worried re. the door shut / strength / probably need to get it welded?

What say you guys?

Hi Max,
Well done on your BX buy, I hope its not too bad when you get to see it in the flesh, but the photo /\ does show the signs/start of heavy corrosion and needs sorting/treating ASAP !

Hopefully no corrosion has crept into the corners/under the glass of the window aperture (As the 'milky' look of the glass suggests its the original screen) as vehicles which have had replacement windscreens fitted often get the paint damage by the fitters !

If however the corrosion has crept under the glass the only way to access/remedy that part of the body construction is by the removal of the windscreen unfortunately :(

Best of luck with it.

:)

Phil, I believe Max has bought this one, If I've deciphered the recent Forum/E-bay activity correctly !

I also see Richardd1652 (5***a) has pushed the price up for Max some what unnecessarily (Richard ! Why don't you let occasionally some of the other BXC members get a bargain buy off E-bay sometimes ?) it's NOT as if you desperate for a BX

As Max stated in the 16v E-Bay listing THREAD:-

I really fancied it myself, was bidding, and lost out to you by £20 :) Sorry if i pushed the price up but i reckon you got a bit of a bargain there, i have a good feeling about this one.

Note, Richard was in there again @ £450 !

So there you have it Phil, SIMPLES

Hi Max

I wouldn't worry to much IF this is all the corrosion. The o/s door shut is pretty standard on any BX now. This has now got to the welding stage but is not a major repair and you are probably seeing the car in original guise rather than bodged and painted which is always a bonus in reality.

yes very true. If the rest is good, ie running and feel of the thing i'll be happy. It does look good in the pics but we all know they can be flattering. Hopefully it will get me home.

So what sort of mpg can i expect on my york to liverpool / maybe holyhead trip?

Max, well done. That corrosion can be dealt with. My GTi's arch is worse than that! As for the windscreen, kill the rust as bset you can and weatherproof it as much as you can. Likewise any other bits, and then tackle the restoration in order of priority (ie MOT focussed). White is a hugely forgiving colur, so hopefully no expensive paintwork to consider.

As for economy, being a manual you can expect 33-37+ on a run depending how you drive!
