How many pics of desirable cars in scrapyards have we seen? Or those just left to rot irretrievably because buyers and/or owners couldn't get their act in gear?

Recently, one of the members of a Russian car group I frequent told of being on the way to the bank and seeing a guy on an old Russian motorcycle/sidecar combination. He went over to admire, to be told "I'm en route to the scrapyard with it - you can have it if you want it!"

I think anyone who saves classic stuff (not only cars) is doing an admirable job, and I only wish I had the space and money to do more of it myself.

the first MK2 golf Gti I had came about in a similar fashion ,

A guy was driving it into a breakers with slight rear end damage

My mate offerred him £80 for it knowing that there was a set of big bumpers in the breakers for £40.

My mates wife didnt like the car so I reimbursed him The £120 and did it up after laying out another £30.00 for paint etc
went on to sell it for £650.

The bonus was that in the drivers handbook was an mot with 9 months to run on it which my mate hadent spotted

Back O/T, why doesn't the guy post pics??? It will be a face-lift example (he mentions chin spoiler) and being a low miler, manual should be a hoot to drive. Is anyone tempted?

I really doubt the mileage is any where near genuine with 7 owners, what are the chances of having so many owners doing less than an average of 9,000 each??? Lottery anyone???

Perhaps if it was unreliable there might have been that many owners. Infact i'm sure my Gti had quite a few owners as well & it wasn't much over 10k per owner, guess they just got fed up with the bills
