Screen washer question

Post by scooters »

Bxers -

my windsceen washer has give up the ghost - no noise from the pump - I have yet to have a good look at it and thought before I did it might be an idea to post here to see if there is a common fault that could be to blame.

any ideas?

cheers

Check the connector to the pump as that can corrode.

If you are going to faff about down there, take the bottle off and give it a good wash to get rid of the mould. Your windscreen will be clearer for it.

If you need a another pump, I have one here I would happily exchange for a beer.

Getting the bottle out is always wise, though beware the rot lurking beneath...

Do you have a multimeter? Might be worth checking that there's power actually getting to the motor - though swapping for the rear motor (if that works) might also quickly highlight where the problem lies.

I get this problem regularly, luckily its the connector coming loose.
I have just sealed it with some duck tape and everythings working fine again. Just hope the rest of the motor holds together for its MOT next week. Fingers crossed.

Do the wipers work when you pull the stalk back towards you but nothing from the washers?

You could exchange it with the one from the rear and connect it just to see if it works.
