Unfraggin believable

Post by kiwi »

On wednesday the local roading maintainence crew resealed a stretch of Road I have no choice but to travel daily as it is the main Highway (Highway a term misused to decribe roads in NZ).

Resealing involves spreading bitumen on the road covering with two layers of stone chip and letting the motorist compact it down. While maintaining a 30kph speedlimit that some morons think they are exempt from and those with large tyres look like a blizzard of stones going through even at 30ks.

The damn ironic thing is about 5kms in either direction theres a lot of stones being flung off in those 100kph areas.

Thursday I got hit by a shower of stones flung up by a truck thankful it was not another windscreen chip but it was the Offside headlamp instead :x Seeing that I swaped the Nearside headlamp with one that was damaged last year.

Well blow me today Saturday the restriction on speed has been lifted and the only friggin vehicle on my way to work at 630am I passed was....A truck that showered me again with some loose chip. Windscreen got pepered but the other Nearside headlamp has another crack (thank god I swaped it) most annoying though is the indicator cover is now missing as well.

Like the windscreen is covered by insurance and pretty much intact but no I lose headlamps instead

So damn annoying that with the peperation of stone chips to the sills and crack to the wheel arch cover just makes me wonder why I try my best to keep the BX in good order. I cant wait for the winter when the grit (not salt) starts appeaing on the icey roads again.

And I forget to mention the annoying squeels and scrunching from loose stones in the brkes and wheels and mass of tar encrusted stones on the subframe.

I feel for you, it's damned annoying.
I seem to remember that I saw an accessory for the bx which was a perspex headlight protector some years back, I wonder if they are still available ?
