A little more infromation. First, the pick up went very smoothly and I was hugely grateful to Andrew (the seller) for his thoroughness in going through everything, and for having kept such a comprehensive service history. The car's in pretty good order. Especially the paintwork which is very impressive given the car's age.

The car came with a bootload of bits including Valeo alternator, a new, spare Citroen alloy wheel in its box, belts, filters, a set of steelies and some (dubious) trims. And over 10 gallons of diesel in the tank... which was nice :)

A few things though:
It will need a service and gearbox oil change, apparently. Included in the service should be front pads and the belt that drives the compressor etc.. Nothing worrying at all. There is an issue with the throttle which looks easy to rectify? (It essentially means it doesn't open fully - but I'll explain in the technical section with pics).

Another thing is thanks to a leaky roof at some point the roof lining is speckled with damp mould stains (although it's dry as a bone now and doesn't smell at all). I have tried cleaning but it doesn't come off. I wondered if I could 'paint' a (slightly) darker grey 'stain' on the roof lining to help disguise it? Any thoughts?

Maybe try a very weak bleach solution - do do a patch test though.

When I heard that Andrew, in his 15 years of owning the TXD, had experimented with different spheres, I was intrigued. Especially as the car sports CX TRi ones on the front and Safari ones on the back. Can't say it's the BEST riding BX I've ever been in (that honour goes to Tim's GT) but it's damned close. Not as soft as you might think. Just right for the leisurely driving a TXD encourages.

Ok its known I dont like Estates, but that is lovely. 8)
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Oooh... As a general rule I don't like estates, but there are several exceptions to the rule... This particular car being one of them 8) My favourite non-16v interior, and a nice colour and spec.

I have A/C too, but the compressor is sat in a box in my garage. Does that get me into the club? :wink:

Its been there for about 10 years from memory :lol:

I like the way you can smack a BX and it starts working again. The GTi's rear wash (not wipe) failed. Hit the switch and it now works. Like that.

(I know- switch out, clean contacts etc... but hitting it is always the first approach; it worked with the heater fan motor and with the sunroof switch...) :lol:

I've got an entire unit sat in the cupboard, where it's been for, oh, since I moved here, and some time in the old house..
I'll fit it oneday..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Yep, I will need to keep on top of things, but essentially it's a brilliant car for the money. 5 month's Tax and MOT too.
