erm, there's a thread or 2 on here about it, but in short, the full voltage / current runs through the switch to the bulbs, couple that to 22 year old wiring and the voltage drop at the bulb is higher than it should be.
The easiest cure is to fit relays and use the feed form the switch to trigger the relay and use a supply from the battery to feed the bulbs. It's something I've been meaning to do for ages, but cant quite get excited enough about to actually do given that most of the stuff I drive at night in work has crap lights, so I just got used to crap lights! I cant even remember the last time I felt the need to use main beam actually.
Dad's fitted HID lights in his BX, which, whilst are uber bright and great at seeing stuff, look bloody crap IMHO. So I shant be fitting those.

I'm no electrician mate, really, wires are f&cking evil thngs, bt even I worked out how to do it. I'm pretty sure electrokid posted a very simple to follow diagram of "how to" that anyone can follow.
And remember, with electrics, you're doing it fine unless you let the smoke out of the cable!

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

The problem with these covers is that the metal ferrul on them protrudes over covers the standard H4 elements reducing the light emmited even without the yellow filter.

Perhaps a slight adjustment may be necessary?
I'll have a look when mine get here, and post results.
