Rad for BX17 Turbo Diesel wanted

Post by sdcoomber »

I'm doing an engine swap for a chap who bought one of my old BXs last year. Head Gasket went and now big leak in Rad. Has anyone got one they wish to sell?

Are they exclusive to TZDs or will any BX rad fit? If so I`ll have one or two here.

I had thought the rads were different on the turbos, but I have my own N/A one here so will look when the sunlight returns. Thanks Cav

Turbo ones are different and cost quite a lot more.

And are enormous with twin fans.

I wonder if ZX/Xantia/405 TD etc rads would be easy to fit as they may be cheaper/more obtainable and presumably would do the job.

Not 405 rads. They (rather stupidly) have the expansion bottle built into the rad, and aren't compatible with the BX TD setup. (the expansion bottle won't fit into the gap available)

Probably not the Xantia either, as they use 2 pass rads, so both the top and bottom hoses are at the RH side of the rad. Which means the top hose passes right over the oil filter and makes it a right bugger to get to

You wouldn't want to fit one of those anwyay, as they seem to be made of chocolate or something, and leak all across the bottom after about 3 days
I NEED a BX TD.

I have just such a rad doing nothing and also know where there is one I could get for £20, however postage might be an issue.

I've posted (well, couriered) a number of Rad's I've sold on eBay in the past. Costs under a tenner, and they've always got there unscathed.

are very good.

Ken. Would love to buy it from you and I can arrange a courier to collect if necessary. How much do you want and I'll sort it. Cheers
