What garage do you use?

Post by scarecrow »

Just thought this could make an interesting subject as the information on the main page was a bit out of date last time I checked ;)

I'll kick-off with my favourite Citroen garage - Hill's Motors of Wainscott, Strood, Kent. They've been in charge of maintenance on my 14 and I have had no problems at all with the work they've done. Had a bit of a problem opening my wallet, but there you go - pay peanuts, expect monkeys :)

my own :) then Broach Hill Garage Crankswick near Driffield. They supplied my CX to me a good few years back now and been helpful ever since

they did the paint work on my CX, letting me strip and re build it on the premises that was 11 years ago :)

that's a good question, I'd like to know of any in Leicestershire.

Also, if anyone has been to Woodlinkin motors (Notts) recently, I looked them up on the internet and it looks like they've gone "modern" Citroen. I haven't been up that way for a long long time.

Field Brothers in Goldsworth Road, Woking for anything non-Citroen and for MOT tests - they recommended Andy's Autos (Andy Baker) for work on Citroens and he is excellent.

There used to be an independent Cit specialist in Loughborough when I lived there (ten years ago), in one of the industrial bits between Nottingham road and A6 south towards Leicester. Not sure if they're still there, and can't remember what they were called I'm afraid - will try and find out.
There's also an independent garage called Turvey Motors at Burton on the Wolds, which isn't a Cit specialist but doesn't shy away from them either - they changed all the steel suspension pipes plus the Octopus on my first one.

Turvey Motors are definitely still there. I'll have to ask around to find out about the other one.

I sometimes head in that direction when I go to Nottingham, but turn off onto the A60. I might take a slight detour next time I'm heading that way.

I do most of my own work, but for the odd jobs I don't have the equipment for, or when I don't have time, I use Tony Weston, who's based just a few miles from me on the A38 at Cambridge. His prices are reasonable, and between him & Andy they know about and have worked on virtually every Citroen from the Light 15 onwards, plus a couple of earlier ones! They're also well known in Citroen circles, which I always take as a good sign.

As I say, they're not Cit specialists, just an old fashioned garage/MoT place. But 2CV Specialists Sutton Cordiner used to be next door so they got used to odd Citroens hanging around the place!

I use my local garage, Oxstalls Service Station, Longlevens, Gloucester - in fact, the XM is there just now with an air leak in the fuel line.

They really are very good.
