on a brighter note after the other nights police checks the old girl passed the mot today with couple of advisories:left front brake hose and slight corrosion on boot floor,ordered brake hose and gonna stonechip boot floor after cleaning it up ,my sunday welding session must have been good then,only out it in early to see whaat else it may fail on but surprised me yet again :D

Nice one! Stonechip is a protector to be sprayed on before it starts to rust it isn't really a rust converter / cure, I would paint it with a rust converter first before stonechipping it, Kurust or similar. Was it just the exhaust hanger area?

Vactan (check out eBay for instance) is supposed to be a particularly good rust treatment.

no its a bit halfway along the spare wheel area,have ground it down today and fairly solid so covered it in kurust and will stonechip tomorrow,have spent a lot of time under the back of bx dealing with mostly surface rust glad it all paid off,quite attached to bx now, only bought it last year to see me through the winter but they do grow on you
