Richard, woudl you not be better off offering the cars for sale on the forum first just ebay? Strange your having a clear out one day and buying two more from Bob the day beforehand!

I know Tim, timing is everything. But somethings come about that i cant turn down, but need to invest alot of time and cash to get things cracking.

Forum = Fixed price or mates rates and invariably lots of chat with little likelihood of sales, especially when it's a more expensive car...

Ebay = Better price for rarer cars with a slightly better likelihood of completing a sale.

Forum: £600 maybe?
Ebay: £800-£1000 probably

Money makes the world go round!
I have zero patience for your tedium.

..that_

Spot on. In fairness Richard did mention it before putting it up on eBay.

I'd do the same.

It's also a car that's commanding a lot of attention already. Selling on the Bay seems like the fairest way to ensure it goes to a good home. I'd sink £1000 into that car if i had somewhere to put it.

I'm surprised it went for that.

hope it was nobody on here or the honest people that rang me first time round.

Unless of course it wasn't Stop Smoke that stopped the valve stem seals leaking and the clutch was sorted. and they knew the aircon didn't work. Then I think it was a fair price. it was mint at one stage.

Seams a good price to me, ok it has a couple of issues but Richard has also sorted a lot of the issues it had when you sold it to him. I think you should back off a little as it comes across as sour grapes because you didn't get that much, you were his best friend when he was buying it off you, he told you soon after he bought it from you the smoking had stopped it has passed an MOT this week and it certainly looks fantastic. The price it went for was the price someone was willing to pay for it not the price Richard had set and I'm sure if they are not happy with it they won't part with their cash. Ebay is an open market so items should in theory find their market value and when buying cars it is up to the prospective buyers to satisfy themselves with the condition of the vehicle before bidding. I don't think £7++ is too exspensive for one of these rare beasts in such good condition? I just hope the new owner has done his research on these properly and is willing and able to do the work required.

yeah I know I'm being a little harsh really. It was only the aircon comment that I thought was a little sneaky but I guess you're right and it is up to the buyer to be satisfied about it.
I think because I never had the money to sort that one I've decided I wouldn't put any money into buying a bx anymore so when I see seven hundred and odd I think "who would spend that on a BX?!" but then they're just not for me now even though I now do have the money. At least I can say I owned one for a while. I did buy the car for only 300 so I can't complain when he paid more for it.

Yeah, one sleep later and I've decided I was out of order so I apologise.

My regret is that at both times this car has come up for sale recently the timing has been appalling for me and I've had to let it go.

It looks a very nice example, and with a little money spent it will be a cracker. My congratulations to whoever will be the new owner.

It's a shame your only experience of the BX is with the most complicated variety, the much simpler 2 wheel drives can give many many years of trouble free motoring and suprisingly simple when they do go wrong especially the diesels. Perhaps give one of those a try if you do like BX's?

yeah I'd thought about a diesel actually. It'd only be a winter hack though, I'm not into cars in general anymore. 143bhp and 183kg bike stopped that :D
If a simple non-rusty, BX with a long MOT and full boot floor/inner wings/rear sills came up I'd pick one over a lot of cars but if a pug 205 with any engine, the same condition and price came up first I'd get one of them. I know a BX is a lot more car but I've never owned a 205 and it's on my list.

It's a shame I didn't have the money for that car at the time. I absolutely loved it. I still have a BX GTi poster up in the house. When something sits around taking up room you fall out of love with it though. I think because I couldn't sort it and it was sitting there looking all sorry for itself I told myself I didn't like it anymore.
I wasn't as excited riding any superbikes home as I was driving that BX home.
