Been on here for a while and elsewhere, if he thinks he will get £500 with NO mot and a busted HP pipe hes doing well.

Have sent an email asking whats exactly up with it as I may fancy a punt if its just a slight leak....

Looks a very nice car, lovely interior. he must be ready to let this one go now, looking at his stock of high class Mercs, Audis and Jags this must just be cluttering up his pitch.
Can't need much with that mileage and service history.

Ebay response is

Hi and thanks for the enquiry on the BX,
The pipe is completely broken at a T piece and the car no longer rises at all. This means there is no steering or brakes either. If you add fluid it comes straight out in a matter of minutes. The pipe is just by the main unit just inside the engine bay on the left and has 3 or 4 T connections next to each other. Sorry not to be technical.
Regards
Rupert

So its the main feed pipe right?

Yes, this sounds like the main feed.

Ask him if he can send a picture of the break/leak area to make it simpler to diagnose.

Tim,
I found the old post's for you to look thro' it may need more than the hydraulic leaks sorting out, like some paintwork and of course those rear lamp's to make a matching pair !

The link's to the LAST thread and then the one BEFORE

Hmm paintwork and lamps are an easy job, the main hp pipe being reptured isnt though.

sounds like the main feed as in rubber hose to pump from reservoir- i replaced mine on my last BX with some clear braided plastic hose type pipe which was fine for over a year. Garage said it would be ok too. Pretty easy fix.

If it is the main rubber feed pipe to the pump Citroen will probably be charging £50+ although the temporary hose solution should pass an MOT?

If you know what your doing and have the pipe it wouldnt take long, I wonder if the garage would let you fix it on site? Probably, the guy I spoke to said it would be a real shame to sbreak the car as its so tidy.

It took me 4 years to find a nice 19TZ auto! And mines done double the miles.

I think that's a really nice looking car - and very rare. Lovely colour and everything. Not being that 'spanner savvy' I'm not sure how expensive it would be to sort out, but a real shame if it was broken - particularly with those miles ( or rather lack of them) on it.

It looks like your sort of car to me Tim - it's got that 'TZ' sexiness about it!? - love those wheel trims! ^^bx>

I mailed the seller when this first came up a long time ago, as I thought it looked like a promising motor - I didn't get a response, probably because I suggested the asking price (around a grand if I recall) was too rich. At the time I was thinking about 70% of that...
