K125 UBV Red 1.9 TXD

I have just aquired this car

Just bought this car on a deferred delivery for mid June.

-it has previuosly appeared in this forum
http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10049

and I wonder if in the period from Feb 2009 - Jan 2011 it was owned by anybody on here.

It was owned I am told, by a 'mechanic', and if the seller has got it correct during that period it had new rear arm bearings , clutch , and some spheres, amongst other things. it has a couple of very good patches welded in the boot - looked a high standard of workmanship.

I have actually bought it but do not take delivery until mid june.

Any intelligence?

I've absolutely none whatsoever! Looks like a very tidy car (from the pics on the other thread) should scrub up nicely. Some original wheel trims in order though?

It was me who first found that BX and put it on here, it was acquired from the garage were I found it for sale by a man who lives on the housing estate just over the road from us after we told him it was for sale.

He had another BX at the time also, a Blue TZD Turbo, which looked nice.

From what I know he used to help out and do work in Howarth's Citroen Garage in Preston were we usually take our BX's for work so you can imagine it's probably been well looked after as you say.

Well I have just collected it and driven home. It all seems to work as described in the original ebay advert. I will update after a closer inspection over the next few weeks.

The obvious fault is the drivers window which does not fully close irritatingly wind noisy at 70mph!

I have listed below the details from the Ebay listing for the sake of history - so that anybody else aquires it in the future there is some good background (the ebay listing details will disappear after about 6 months).

my 1992 Citroen BX TXD non-turbo diesel hatchback.

This is the top spec model with the same interior as the GTi...in this case with red cloth to match the bright red exterior.

The previous owner carried out a huge amount of work within the last 12 months or so including:

new clutch

new starter motor

new timing belt and kit

near rear swinging arm bearings on both sides

new discs and pads

new rear height corrector

new spheres all round...i have just fitted a new accumulator sphere

new glow plugs

The car is extremely tidy inside and out with no rust at all in the A, B or C pillars, door bottoms or sills, etc.

The underside is in absolutely excellent condition and it is very tidy under the bonnet.

The car drives very well and is extremely economical, returning around 55mpg on average.

It is mechnically perfect to the very best of my knowledge....i've owned a large nmber of BX's CX'S and DS's....and has covered about 138,000 miles...which is absolutely nothing for a well-maintained non-turbo 1905cc TUD engine...about 300,000 miles is the usual lifespan without major work.

The car is faster than most non-turbo TUD's..they do vary quite a lot!....and will cruise totally effortlessly at 80+mph whilst still returning amazingly good economy.

The paintwork is bright and shiny with no lifting or deterioration except tiny areas at the base of the rear plastic spoiler which seems completely unavoidable with BX's!

It is fitted with a quality tow bar with twin electrics.

There are one or two tiny marks on the bodywork but it is way, way above average and looks extremely smart!

Faults:

1.The drivers side window glass does not 'park' tight closed for reasons i have not yet got to the bottom of...the glass closes but then bounces back about 3mm at one end

2. The clutch release bearing seems slightly noisy despite the recent replacement of the whole clutch assembly. It is not bad and the clutch itself is very light (cable was replaced too) and works absolutely perfectly.

The car is currently SORN'd and is only for sale because i have just bought an immaculate early BX 19 GT series 1 and i can't keep both of them!

Car is priced very reasonably because i need the space and is a steal at the buy it now price of £450!

Any queries then give me a ring on 07843 378995

Car is located just off J23 of the M5

Payment/collection within 7 days of auction end and if you press buy it now i will want a £100 deposit via Paypal within 24 hrs unless otherwise agreed.

Good luck and happy bidding!

Welcome along pmh - we used to have a 'prm' here though he's been quiet for a while.

As it's going up, just give it a bit of hand to guide it home and then it will close. Two of my BXs require this assistance. I've tried fiddling with the mechanisms but had no luck. If anyone's got any brighter ideas?

If you take the door panel off, there are a series of 10mm nuts which hold the window mechanism in place. Look closely at one of them which is slighty apart from the others and you'll see it's hole is elongated, slacken the nut and adjust to either top or bottom of the hole, then try it again. :D

Ah, that's good to know Ken. I'll have a bash at adjusting it then!
