now you don't see many of these come up for sale, if I had that much money floating around looking for something to be spent on I'd be tempted, unfortunately I'm poor hahah

Citroen BX 19TGD 1990 "Myrtille "
I agee with Des, I already have the former ( ok so it's a titchy model in a box on the bookcase ) so the latter would suit me just fine - 3rd time lucky??
I should say that my recent winnings on Euromillions have been circa £5 and £8, so the next one could be big
, if so, you are all invited round for drinks

There have been cheaper ones available for between €10k-€20k but this one obviously has the 'Monte Carlo' pedigree so provenance = price?
If you look here on the register you might be able to find a cheaper one. I like the one that is being used as an ad for a Parisian scrappers ( minus it's organs)!

The key point is that this is a works WRC car; rally prepared etc. The majority of BX4TCs are, of course not competition cars but of the 200 homogolation proiduction cars. The latter have the 'babywalker' rear spoilers and bear surprisingly little resemblance to the rally car. The rows of lights we associate with the rally car were not always fitted in competition but were (if I understand correctly) standard fit to the road cars.
Sure, they are all rare - and €10k-€20k represents a recent range of prices for homogolation cars (probably a lot more now?), but given that a competition car (for example) rescued a few years ago, which was bought for €90k IIRC, and had well over £100,000 spent on it (a few miles away from me actually) prior to its appearance at the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed, I can well understand why this car's up for that amount.
However. This ad has been around for a fair time, so maybe there's something not quite right about it's provenance? It looks the part (check out the rear - vents/spoiler etc) but maybe it was never used in anger? Who knows.

It has a sort of Mad Max appeal to me - looks as though it was bodged together in someone's shed- particularly the pukka rally one which had the really small, badly fitted headlights. It sounds like a beast though.
If I had the chance to get one I definately would - as long as I could fit baby-seats and a roof-rack!

I agree with Tim in one respect, the body shape of the BX4TC as sold to the public was half-arsed and not as purposeful as the rally version. The body kit is horrible on the former, whereas the competition BX4TC had a 'fat' back end (intakes/radiators) and a much better design of extensions from the 'B' pillar back. The front wing bulges were similar, but the front bumper, with those 'go-faster' strakes is 'orrible.
No, If I could have a BX4TC it'd be like this:
(This is the car restored 'secretly' in Heybridge. Dennis was consulted during it's rebuild... It cost an absolute fortune)

I tend to agree, Tim. I get twitchy with about spoilers, twin headlights and louvres so this beast has me on verge of involuntary break-dancing. I much prefer the clean slab-sided look of the bog-standard BX shape.Roverman wrote:Never seen the appeal myself, I dont find the shape attractive and very much out of proportion! I imagine its a hoot to drive.
But spare a thought for Phil, who is probably quite keen to park one of these outside his gaff. It's a broad church, init?
