one of these days i'm going to get me an as-new, low mileage minter of a BX with a biblical service history and love it like they are supposed to be loved. I am obviously living in the wrong era.

It is arguable though, it does take more love to maintain a relationship with a car with issues. As with people.

Max, the minter 'grandad' BXs are still turning up. There was that Mk.1 Leader here in the area two weeks ago - one grunter from new, clean as a whistle, €220 because the strut return was leaking!

Yesterday I saw on leboncoin.fr a 16TRS from 1985 35k on the clock, also one owner from new, full service history.

I think my favourite was that 16v that was for sale a couple of years ago on Guernsey where the speed limit is 35mph. It had probably never been out of second gear, belonged to a doctor, 35k - absolute minter. No idea what happened to that.

I'm quite happy to have a BX that is road legal. My children make sure that any car interior will be redecorated. Luckily in the BX owner's handbook there's advice on how to remove a whole range of stains from upholstery!

that's the kinda thing i'm looking for.

Ours too, that's why i'm happy having a slightly scruffy BX as a runabout. I'd like the good one in the garage though for special occasions. Not that i have a garage.

Im not selling this one for a while....Im gonna keep it in top nick and not drive it hard. i know the history of this car from new and i don't think the accelerator has ever been fully depressed! its also given me 90 miles of town driving for a quarter of a tank! i can't afford not to have this car! but when i do come to send 'Rupert' on his way...you guys will have first dibs.

Ah, it was Jersey was it? There was another BX on Guernsey for sale too. Is it now on the Uk mainland then? Didn't it sell for 800 quid or something? Bit of a price hike!

Pretty sure it's the same one , the guy has three more which have been stored in a barn for a few years , these he will sell with Mot for around £1500, he probably gave next to nothing for them a few years back and it's now time to let go seeing as any half decent 16v is over £1000 now

i guy i know here recently sold a very nice 23 DS Safari to a guy in Guernsey and when he put up his pride and joy DS 23EFi DS manual for sale, the same guy bought it. both for around 12000 euro i think. Those channel islands must be riddled with classic cars, can't you just imagine it?

Exclusive anachronistic haven for the rich to escape paying UK tax. We could really piss them off by giving 'em back to France ;)
