Not a BX

Post by toddao »

Who hasn't fancied one of these? This would make a perfect companion for my 'rat' 16v - the 'rat' SM! Offered on Leboncoin in Toulouse for a mere €6k. Cheap at the price but imagine the investment required!

I love that patina..

Can you imagine the amount of money you would have to spend on that!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

It looks pretty good to me - what can be seen of it. Just needs a bit of rub down and a battery probably.

"Just" a battery? Doesn't that require the removal of most of the front panels? Wonderful cars though. A shabby one would be great fun. For a bit...

Even the chrome looks rust-free - the only fault I can see is a wing-mirror is missing. But I agree, probably one for Richard :)

I'm sure once you get to grips with them and have got unlimited time/funds to spend fiddling with it then it's all quite 'straightforward' to fix. That Maserati engine - some weird V6 chopped down from a V8 - is a bit of a headache I think, unless its been upgraded. Good ones fetch around €30k and beyond so this is practically rock bottom ( though I have seen worse). It's still way beyond my purse! I can dream.
Then there's the exhaust. No bargain deals on ebay for this lot:

I'd prefer a DS any day of the week - they are the prettiest car in the world in my book - especially the old convertible ids... Saw a pink one a few years back for a mere hundred grand !!!!!

Or removal of the O/S wheel and a panel, but how you're supposed to change a wheel the Citroen way by raising the suspension, when the battery is flat is beyond me! :D

One of my favourite cars - probably THE favourite now I come to think about it, but at 6000 grand it's probably 'spares or repairs', unless you've got another 15 grand sitting idle somewhere. Even a whiff of rust and its just going to be a money pit - which it is anyway . . . gorgeous though!

These ones are slightly lower down the scale but rusting romantically!

Tragedy! That must be an American scrap yard as they all appear to have the American spec. front end - i.e. ruined!

Very true. I dread to think what a replacement SM windscreen would cost, should I need one . . . which will be never (alas)! :D
